State Trooper ticketed at over 130 m/p.h.
Hemis is no slouch, the 5.7L LX's are known to run up to 160+ mph, with the SRT-8's at almost 180 mph.

We had a guy resign over a similar deal. There is dash cam footage in the link. With dash cams, gps and growing unpopularity I don't understand why you would risk it on 99.9% of calls.

Glad to see them held accountable. LEOs running hot w/o their lights on is one of my pet peeves. I know that there are instances when safety may dictate not running lights but their liability goes way up in those circumstances in my opinion.
thats annoying, but the LEOs running like that OUT OF THEIR STATE (Crawford County PD) really burns my hide...

How many that will blast the police for driving to fast would let the guy go in Dallas on the way to see his MIL even though he had no emergency lighting?
Depends on the situation. This is obviously not one of them. There have been times where it's necessary but not very often. Of course you can't think of a single reason. You apparently have no experience in this line of work, so I'll leave it at that.
I can come up with a few reasons for an officer to be doing 130 on the interstate.
Then again, I can come up with a few reasons why anyone would be doing 130. If Americans has decent lane discipline, we wouldn't have a problem with people doing 130.
the problem I have with officers doing 130 is when they are doing it just because they can. Like when an officer turns on his lights so he can take a left turn on a red light just to turn them off after the turn and make a right into the station.

I just made several trips across I-40 from Henryetta to Sallisaw and the east-bound right lane is so rough in some places that I'll drive in the left lane if there is no traffic close behind me. I do try to watch and move right if I see approaching traffic but any LEO running 130 would probably run up on me faster than I'd notice unless he was running with lights on. I hate to do it (and make a practice not to do it) but my truck is too valuable to me to just beat it to death on the roads that we pay for and they don't maintain.
Now back to your previously scheduled rant.
