I've shot both and prefer the Glock anyday. The xd is too tall, grip the pistol as if you were to shoot it, and stick your finger down the side of the slide. Look at how much gun there is above your finger, the slides on the xds are large, as seen here,

The most recent xd I shot was a compact xd .40. I just didnt like it. Felt like there was much more mass than you need in a gun that size. I wanted a sub-compact pistol, and thats what I got with the G27.

 

Hey guys all that matters is what he likes and how he feels when he squeezes the trigger. If he can hit center mass first round and he can keep on target and he has no problems with it then it's the gun for him. Springfield makes good weapons. Just to clearify I do not own a Springfield,

No problem on the sub-compacts, those aren't my cup of tea. I thought this discussion was on the new M model, which is more comparable to the XD 40 model.

I think he was talking about the bore axis. I shot an XD 9 that belonged to a friend of mine and it felt great in my hands and I shot it well, but I did think that the bore axis was too high. I assume that's what he meant when he said they were too tall.

The XD's are really nice guns in my opinion. I wouldn't mind owning one or two. I still prefer Glocks though. I like their simplicity and I like the fact that if something does happen to break on one I can buy the part just about anywhere and fix it myself (although to date I have never had anything break on any one of my Glocks).

 

Totally agree with you Hoss. I've never shot the sub-compacts, they're too small for me. i will admit as you said if a part is needed you can get it quicker through glock. Springfield has to ship parts direct, which makes it hard for competition shooters to get the parts they need. For this reason many buy the Xds in pairs. I love Glocks too, but for my personal comfort and uses the XD fits my bill better.
