Speeding troopers

I just have to vent a bit...

It ticks me off to no end seeing state troopers, in just about all states, blow by at 90+ mph just so they can pull into the next "niche" to monitor trafic. I could never find an acceptable reason for this other than "hey I can do it and there is nothing that you can do about it." To me that amounts to nothing more than hypocrisy. What king of respect can that generate?
What do you guys think?

Anyway I feel better now....

I hate that almost as much as I hate troopers that drive 45 in a 70, then every other idiot decides since the trooper is driving 45 they have to drive 45 too. DRIVES ME CRAZY

Legally, for a trooper to go over the speed limit they need to have their emergency lights on.

On the freeways out here, though, they speed so they don't slow traffic down. When everybody's going 80 in a 65, if a CHP-man is driving at 65, then everybody is going to slow down to 65. Even if he's keeping pace at 80, then everybody is going to feel scared and drop down slower than he's going.

The only way to keep things flowing is for them to go faster than everybody else; nobody feels guilty going 80 when the cop's going 90.

One cop on a freeway going the speed limit is a worse traffic jam than when the druggie women get high and start running around on the shoulder naked.

Can you post that statute (section number)?

I have NO problem calling 911 and reporting the offenders license plate. Done it many times and sadly will most likely have to do it again.

And it's not just the state troopers.

More irritating than the locals, are the out of towner's who apparently are visiting for training. You can tell as the front passenger's dosing and drooling on his arm.

Occasionally, one of the local radio stations will borrow a radar unit. It seems to always end up with a supervisor getting involved with more concern placed on the accusers.

I can't help but think the day ends with a butt-chewing . . . . not for speeding needlessly, but for being caught.

alot of times in residential areas if they are speeding, they have a call the requires a silent approach. you dont want to drive in with lights and sirens to a buglery and scare the perp away and kill all chances for an arrest. the same is true for alot of domestic disputes. if someone hears the sirens there is a good chance they might freak out about the other calling the cops and become more violent.

on the highway i agree that it slows traffic down when a law enforment officer is doing the speed limit. im not afraid to pass them even if they are doing the speed limit! these guys put their lives on the line for us everyday and im not going to bust their marbles over speeding...just my opinion

well, my wife being one herself I can tell you that they get a pace on speeders and check the speed at which they are going this way. Also, if you want to catch a speeder then you have to be one, that is if you are cruising the highway and not parked on an overpass. Be thankful they are out there. They are good people doing a tough job. I can't even tell how many funerals my wife has attended of fallen officers. I can also tell you that the Highway Patrol has the toughest standards in law enforcement, no donut eating chubbies. If your a trucker who dislikes them, well I spent 11 years in the trucking industry and I am glad they give tickets out to those who feel they can get away with shoddy maintenance, speeding, drugs and alcohol all while driving an 80,000lb rig down the road. Next time you get ticked off becuase they speed past you remember, thats their job. Now, let me vent on that same line. It really ticks me off when people (Liberals) critisize me for driving a big 4 door, 4x4 diesel truck and speed by me at 90 mph in their Subaru, Prius or other so called economy car wasting fuel trying to get to the ski slopes as fast as they can. Hypocrites!

The way I look at it is... If I see a trooper or any other cop go buy me going way over the speed limit, then I let them get a little ahead and then I match there speed. hey, if they can do it I can do it... but thats just the way I look at it

from a prior incident i had with speeding, i now have 3 small cctv cameras mounted to my ride. for a few months it was more of a toy then a tool. but one day it paid off. i was driveing on the toll rd, at 53mph (speed lmt is 55) a trooper flys by in the right lane(at least 80) about a mile down he had slowed to where he got behind me. then bam- lights on. gives me a ticket saying i was going 68. i argued about it, he didn't care. however, in court i provided the tape showing my speed, his speeding and passing on the right. he denied it saying it was a diffrent patrol car. well, by saying that he had just shown the judge he was a liar. he hadn't noticed that his car #s where also on tape.
with out the video, i would have lost

I do the exact same thing and then when I do get pulled over for doing it, I just tell them I'm going with the flow of traffic and your setting the pace, let's take it to court. I haven't got a ticket yet for it.

I've reported officers for speeding and reckless driving on many occasions. Usually they are in a rush to meet the guys for coffee break. They don't like me much here in town, who cares anyways.

I do the same. If he's in front of me, I don't have to worry about him hiding in the bushes!!
