Someone who you would like to meet today?

I have always told everyone that I know not to give info on the Net that has questionable motives....

1 week ago today, I was surfing and I saw a pop-up asking to take this survey. Not unusual questions, just no focus. Anyhoo, I wrapped it up and it said I won flowers, just pay shipping. So I did, over $200 worth of shipping And no flowers....I did it for my mom and I got suckered. I went looking for the site and it doesn't exist anymore So now I wait on the bank and Visa to see if I get money back. Now I want to see this guy and give him a, uh, talking to. Before the judge gets a hold of him....

Anyone want to share their experience?

Jon

What a rip off. Do report it to the Internet Crime Complaint Center.

It's probably a waste of time, but I would look up the URL through "whois" to see who owns it. If you are interested and don't know how to do it, PM me the URL, and I will look it up for you.

You used a whois look up, and the URL wasn't listed? That isn't the same as trying to look at the site itself. It is looking at who is the registered owner of the site.

If you remember the URL, pass it to me, and let me see what I can find.

That time I was using IE, and I dont keep a history on it, I tried remembering but it was a pop-up, no address bar was on the pop-up. I am now using my Firefox with the pop up blocker. The reason for the IE is for some sites. I am not using it anymore. It is IE 5 I think??

I tried using the whois, but the website wasn't right or not found. I probably goofed

BTW, how do I look for spy bots? My puter is running really slow now and websites are not loading like they should....

The best and oldest safegaurd is to never trust a service you don't solicite if they're unfamiliar to you. Even the familiar ones get counterfieted or copied to make the bad guy look legit, and the real business probably wouldn't solicite so vigorously anyway.
