Smoked a piston or two I think

Was pulling my John Deere 730 diesel (bout 21000 pounds gcvw) over Afton Mountain last Saturday when the little six started knocking. The temp gauge was around 220 or 230 by the time I looked down and it was too late then. Pulled over at the Lee Hi truck stop on I 81 to unload the tractor and she was really hammering at idle. Cummins guy there said ayep, somethin's wrong with her. (like I needed that)
Called my son to come and get me and the brakes on his locked up and he had to go back home. Couldn't get ahold of another truck in Spotsylvania so said to heck (or other words) with it and drove it home (about three hours). Figured it will either get me home or fall out on the pavement smoking but every mile is one less to have it towed especially with that 30 foot GN hanging on the back.
She got me all the way to the house but she ain't sounding real good now. Gotta get her out to Scheids for a slight tune up.
Anyone want a hauling job since I'm stuck in Connecticut?
And the motto of this story is, use that HP wisely fellows. This is going to be an expensive tune up for sure.

Wow, DD, that's really too bad!! Almost sounds like what happened to Bill (Haulin) his first go-round. Keep us informed on what's happening.

Check your thermostat. If I'm correct, that's what started this massive headache that Haulin is going through right now. He did the exact same thing you did.

If your still in Conneticut, and haven't found anyone to give you a tow, let me know.
Maybe I can sneak away and give ya a tow.
Gonna be crappy here for the next day or two anyways.

I'll PM you my cell phone # give me a call
Maybe I could run down and say howdy and have breakfast with ya.

Rich, I sent you a PM.

Dodgezilla, the truck is in Virginia and Scheids is in Terre Haute Indiana. Looks like we will be hauling it out there on the 23'rd right now, after I get back.
