Admiral just got home from the doctor. One knee's been giving her fits for years. Came to the point where the only thing left to try is a total knee replacement.
Going to visit the Surgeon on Wednesday. We're a bit apprehensive, but hope it works out well.
Glad we don't live in Canada, or here a few years from now as Obamacare gets in full force.

My dad is a new man after a knee and hip replacement. Best wishes for your lady. Make sure she listens to the Drs and does her rehab and she'll be dancin around your place in no time.
Its the squeaky wheel getting the grease. You need to start making some noise.
Speaking of noise. We just had a 5.9 earthquake a little while ago.
I hate them. Ya never know if its going to keep getting worse. Glad I dont have any booze or I would be having a drink right now.

I don't think that would help at this point. I just want to walk away.
Being the squeaky wheel is what I've been all about most of my life. Unfortunately it was always for someone else's benefit instead of my own. It's probably time I started thinking about me, which is why I just want to walk away from the whole mess.

That seems to be the general theme lately. Had our annual fire department gathering tonight and it seems that 30 years with the department doesn't even get recognized anymore. And the nearly 5 million in grant money we've brought in is miniscule in comparison to the Deputy's 3 months of 'grueling work' to acquire a $100,000 grant for radio regionalization.
Yeah, I'm in a rotten mood. Does it show?

If I'm still around in 10 years I'll be absolutely amazed. When I was young, someone I trusted a LOT told me my time would be around 50 years old. I believed him then and I still believe him, so I figure I'm already on borrowed time.

I figure if the house is gonna fall down I might as well get pictures of it.
I forgot you were in Japan so you know what they are like.
Glad you werent there March of 2011.
Many years ago we had a P.O. who would write letters to the editor (using other names) that would extol some of his great contributions to society.
One day I needed some carbon paper and noticed a pretty new sheet in the trash next to his station.
I fished it out and noticed it had only been used once to type a letter to the editor about how he had been spotted by somebody donating his time picking up litter on the side of the road.
The dirt bag later got promoted to P.O.III.
However, he later got fired for having sex with Female Parolees who were under his supervision
.Sometimes ya just gotta believe in Karma.
Like in most places the key phrase is "But what have you done for me lately"? In his day, my father applied for the grant, established the district and recruited (including me) 26 individuals to go through basic EMT training to man the 3 ambulances he acquired. As he got older he had to hand the reigns over to other people and that was the beginning of the end. Twenty years later the fine folks running things didn't even know who he was or what he sacrificed, as did we all, to make those ambulances a possibility. It pretty well ****** me off! Does it show?
You sure of that?

Well anyway, morning all.

I have found through my dealings with the majority of departments in this state that the slower they are the more in house problems they have. If they are busy with fires and other substantial calls then in house issues are at a minimum and usually policed up quickly.
At the end of it we lose focus on why we took these positions, not for the money, not for the recognition, certainly not for the perceived benefits. For a greater moral calling, to serve humanity, and at least in my case refill a hole of brotherhood found only while in the military. We have No one else to blame for sacrificing our own values and moral structure but our selfs. Regardless of what the "job" throws at us.

We just havent been having too many of them lately so the second it started making the door chimes clang (they do it for 5.0 and up) I jumped up and grabbed the video camera.

Heh I like that 'Richter scale' you got in the wind chimes

I find earthquakes wild. We had a few big ones in Japan that were strong enough for long enough that we had to get out of the house. Luckily none we were in ever damaged anything significant. We had a few in the 6s. We lost a few glasses out of kitchen cabinets and small things off shelves but nothing serious.
DH was there in 2011. He was actually catching a layover flight in Tokyo en route to home after spending a few weeks in Korea for an exercise. Total fluke. He called home an hour or two after the initial earthquake to let me know they were delayed. All the terminals had been evacuated to the tarmac. By that time I had seen the news developing and informed him of the tsunami and what else was going on further north. He had no idea how serious it was until I told him what the news was reporting. It was hard to watch that on tv and not be able to help anybody.

MOrnin' gang - - ooopppsss, almost afternoon. OK OK, I have excuses. I have been busy exercising my gimpy - - ouch it hurts.
Hey Bark, go to this URL and bring up 2011.
http://earthquake.usgs.gov/earthquak...ist.php?y=2012
Count the hits in Alaska compared to the world. I think I want to move to Adak - - 53 hits in one year - -that averages one per week. Not bad. Talkeetna had a lot and Sandy Beach or something like that.
Hey buddy - - we are all on borrowed time. Live it to the fullest, make it count, leave a legacy, stay positive and move on from the bad stuff. This is only a little while down here in comparison to eternity.
And, if you call within the next 30 minutes, we will double your offer - - we will send you two of our super duper pooper scoopers along with a years supply of indistructable towels for cleaning up the mess - - you just pay the extra shipping.
We have those - - only ours are for determining wind speed in hurricanes. I use the metronome, set it to the beat of the tune on the chimes, read this chart I have and can tell within .00067348 mph of the actual wind speed. ......
.....
...............NOT!!!!! I could talk for quite a while about some hilarious things in earthquakes from our living in California - - like dodging the bricks sliding down the roof from the collapsing chimney while trying to get out of the house, scar from being knocked into the wall, climbing trees, trapped under mosquito nets, etc etc etc. So funny in retro, but sure not at the time other than the tree climbing - - my mother sat on the ground laughing so hard she wet her nighty - - I am sooo bad......
OK, gotta go get to work - - sooo much to catch up and soooo slow doing it yet. GGGGRRRRR

Hit the range with my Papoose. Good shooter.
Bob, in Corpus we'd listen to the palm trees for our wind meter. If we heard them, it was windy.
I saw this at Walmart yesterday (BTW, they have Mobile Delvac on sale 12.99/gal)
