Just checking in with the night shift. Looks like they're all snoozing and all is quiet. Coffee on the counter in case someone needs some.

Wow, a breakroom without a date. This one might last us a couple weeks if we take care of it and keep it clean. Have to send the janitor a memo about that in the morning.

Night all. Headed to bed.

Whew, that was close but I got it changed. If a breakroom lasts more than a week you risk a tear in the fabric of the universe. If you think about it, since DTR has just had a breakroom the scientists have totally changed the way most of us learn about the universe. When I studied it there were 9 planets in our universe, now they say there's only 8. I'm not going to be responsible for anything else that might go wrong.

I tend to weld a little too hot anyway but I've been trying to learn to cool it down. I'd like to learn more about mig. I have a small unit and have played with it a little but most of what I do is outside of the range of the wire welder I have. I really need to take a course on it, just to learn the basics.

Topper you got mail

I wish I could be more of a metal fab guy but math and me do not get along period and wood is more forgiving. How ever we just finished a 8 year progect of building 8 bridges on our place and we are in the process of finishing up 5 custom made hydrolic squeeze chutes. Mostly thats all dad and his buddy. His buddy put him self though chiropractor school working as a under water welder so when this guy builds any thing its huge and heavy and uses requires a fleet of tractos to move it, the guy is super smart metal fab he built his wife a jewlery box out of the biggest cetylene bottle you can get and of course it weigh 400lbs when he got donw but son of a buck it was sure nice and functional and not ugly at all. He lined it with like neoprene and built wood drawers out of oak or cherry wood.

How do you figure??? If you cut a piece of steel a tad too short, you can always weld up the end, grind it down and you're back where you need to be. Let's see you do that with wood!

Morning all.

SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 12th:

1733 - Savannah, GA, was founded by English colonist James Oglethorpe.

1870 - In the Utah Territory, women gained the right to vote.

1892 - In the U.S., President Lincoln's birthday was declared to be a national holiday.

1907 - A collision of the steamer Larchmont and a schooler resulted in the death of more than 300 people. The incident occurred off New England's Block Island.

1909 - The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) was founded.

1915 - The cornerstone of the Lincoln Memorial was laid in Washington, DC.

1924 - U.S. President Calvin Coolidge made the first presidential political speech on radio.

1971 - James Cash (J.C.) Penney died at the age of 95. The company closed for business for one-half day as a memorial to the company's founder.

1973 - The State of Ohio went metric, becoming the first in the U.S. to post metric distance signs.

1973 - American prisoners of war were released for the first time during the Vietnam conflict.

1999 - U.S. President Clinton was acquitted by the U.S. Senate on two impeachment articles. The charges were perjury and obstruction of justice.

2001 - The space probe NEAR landed on the asteroid Eros. It was the first time that any craft had landed on a small space rock.

2004 - Mattel announced that "Barbie" and "Ken" were breaking up. The dolls had met on the set of their first television commercial together in 1961.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY:
Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things.

Coffee's ready.

Morning boys.

Wood is easy to work with; metal takes more muscles and better tools. I like metal better. But I find something really nice about mixing them in the same project.

The soccer game yesterday was so much fun. The US scored two gals in the final minutes for a comeback win , it was awesome! Best part was they were on our end of the field for offense. Watched Hope Solo in the first half in front of us. The second half they put in the other keeper down at the other end.

The weather was so cold. We were lucky that our seats were west facing. We about died on the walk to the car after the sun went down. The wind was blowing frigid.

Here's some pics, ain't the best photog

Seems strange to see a large group of people wearing winter gear when the sun is out and no snow. Bunch of lightweights.

I sure hope the Shrewberry Surprise I made through the night turns out to be a good test on FiverBobbyDependable. Might need to double up.

Oh yeah...there are no dates or time in Shrewland.

You are sick, Scotty.

Mornin. Had a good friend come by last night, had some beers.

Got woke up with a phone call this morning that one of the Marines in my squadron was killed last night, alcohol related. Not sure about many more details, but it is never good when this happens.

That's pretty much going to put a damper on the rest of my weekend, but I'm going to try to have a good day.

Shorts, cool pics.

DC, ain't seen you in forever, where you been?

I'm working with a 5 year old that saw a monster last night strangely similar to the one on the movie he watched yesterday. He was talking about it, and how he hid. I told him he should have tackled it... he said, "But if it bited me, I would have got dead!" I told him at least he would have went out a hero.

I really think he would have just ran head first into the door jam.

Ok, off to see what the day holds for me.

Mad, that's not a good call to ever get - sorry to hear about your Marine. Those terrible scenes shake the entire community. Condolences to his family and the squadron.

When the phone rings in the night...its rarely a good call. Sorry to hear this Mark.

My daughter watched a robot movie the other night...did pretty much the same thing. She did say that the robot squeaked and groaned lots so she knew where it was.

Hi Shorts.

Shorts : good to see that many people at a soccergame, I didnīt think that soccer could gather a crowd in the us, or did they hand out free beer and hotdogs to get things moving.
