self admited bonehead moves.....

well been doin a bit of wrenchin now that the weather has gotten better. swapped out bad snow water meth pump with new, and while under the hood I noticed something odd..... the leads to the mp8 were not all hooked up ! thinking back to 4 weeks ago, I remember getting a phone call halfway thorough the install. yup, been driving around with just the map sensor lines hooked up for 4 weeks and was wondering why the truck didn't act like it had a pressure box on it. so thats my bonehead move of the month. the good news is I got it all hooked up and now the truck runs like it should !

Today, needed to reach the bolt for the blade in the middle and furthest away from the discharge shoot on a 25+ year old kubota tractor. I needed to use a impact wrench and couldn't get under it. Drove the rear tires up on to some ramps, used the loader to get the front end up, put a 5 gal. plastic buckeut under the front end, locked the brakes, let it idle about 25% speed, raised the deck, and changed them out.

I left the engine running because the hydraulics leaked back too fast when it wasn't.

Idiot.

Put six gallons of gas in the '98.5 CTD. Had it towed into the dealer and they discovered that the vent cap for rail tranportation had never been removed and that the sides of the tank had been sucked in do to no venting. I always wondered about that suction at the cap. A new tank and five gallons of diesel and away I went. No charge. I smell the nozzle now after talking to a tanker driver. He said there is no fail safe system of interlocking hose nozzles. He's caught himself 5-6 times almost putting gas into diesel underground tanks and vice versa.

Wink

relax, your secrets are safe...

windows open, nice and sunny day-cleaned all the winter scum off the patio doors, polished the glass with some new chemical I had just bought- thought it worked great. caulked and painted trim and went to wash up, put stuff away. about 2 hours of work.
went into kitchen for a nice lunch, heard hubby on mower. had just hung out laundry and wanted to tell him not to go that direction. saw the deck to step out on- yup. got up off the floor. that glass is sure strong!
I am not even blonde.....

When hooking up my GDP 2 micron, I goofed pretty good. I had it all hooked up and went to check it for leaks. I bumped the starter and all I heard was fuel dumping on the ground. Somehow, I forgot to hook up the filter feed line.

the other day i was fixing a tire for the boat trailer. it had a leaky valve stem. poped the front bead off and pounded out the old valve stem. and then it all started to go down hill from there. i dropped the valve stem tool inside the tire, that was fun to get out. then went to apply a little glue to the new stem and droped it in the can of glue. it took a while to get that one out.
