Seized 2 stroke engine

We have a couple of little quads that my wife and I bought for our nieces. The have 49cc Chinese engines in them. We had a party last night and the quads were getting used by some of the party members. I am not sure what happened but I suspect someone didn't mix the oil and gas in the correct ratios. Long story short, one of the engines seized. I left it overnight to cool and it is still seized. Any suggestions on how to get it unseized or is it just junk now?

They aren't expensive, only $299 but I would hate to have to replace it after only 2 hrs of use.

One of my friends had a couple of them for his kids and he got about the same amount of time out of them before they grenaded too. Nature of the beast I think. The bearing cap came off of one of his and wedged the connecting rod against the case.

examine the fuel in the one that's seized. you can tell if its got oil in it or not.

After that, pull the motor apart. you may be able to just hone the cylinder and replace the piston.

Pull the spark plug and fill the cylinder with marvelous mystery oil and let it sit for a day or so. Then try tuning it over easily. If it turns over then fill the fuel tank with a heavier mix of fuel/oil and be done with it. Nothing to lose at this point but the cost of the marvelous mystery oil.

I have heard of Marvelous Mystery Oil. I wonder if you can buy it up here in Alberta?

okay, Fronty the engineer gave ya a good fix. if you don't want to play NASCAR mechanic

here's a chemical fix:

1/3 kerosene, 2/3 tranny fluid mix. spark plugs out, fluid in the hole. let sit. next day, six point wrench on the output and 'tap' to move rotation.

chinese stuff : had my share of plastic gear tools.

still have 1960s cub cadet, small enignes done right. never see that again I am afraid..

bro in law has two. had to wire a car battery to a battery 4wheeler for the third grand kid to keep up with the other two. do what we can for the lil ones, don't we?
sorry to hear sean, good luck.

JWBM,
I also happen to have a good supply of ATF. Chck the thread I posted a few days back asking if ATF is volatile. I have to go into the city tomorrow, so I will grab some kerosene at the hardware store.

The good thing is the quads only cost $299 so if I have to buy another one and have a parts quad, we are not talking about mucho dollars. This just goes on the list of things we will use to explain to the nieces why they need to push our wheelchairs when we are older (as opposed to middle aged and hungover that we have going on today).

or just siphon a bit of the diesel out of your tank in place of the kerosene.... you only need a little.

Ack, the last time I tried to siphon fuel it was gas out of the generator for some other gas powered yard toy. I got a mouthful. That gave me amazing heart burn and I didn't swallow it! 6 Tums finally calmed thing down but my burps smelled like I was an oil refinery for the rest of the evening. I was afraid to have a cigar for a few hours.

LOL Just got an image of a flame plume coming out of your mouth about like the plume that came out of the spark plug hole of the flooded one lunger I just cleared and started.
