Up here in the BAY STATE, and in many other parts of these United States, the term ribbing means to "kid", or "to poke fun at". It's the inflected form of the transitive verb "rib", and it's origin is from the tickling of the ribs to cause laughter. You following me? ;D

 

Tom, that's just more than I ever really cared to know about the origin of the verb "rib." ;D
