saw duramax today smokin

i was riddin behind this dmax today at 55mph and he was spittin little smoke just stayin the same speed. if he hit the gas a little it would really smoke. all i could think was crappy mpg . it didnt even look good. i dont know what he had in it but he needs to change it in my opinion

more then likely bad injectors my friends on his 3rd set,and this set he gets to buy $$$$ .

I've seen that before with Duramaxes too.

Cruising along in the fast lane at 70 miles an hour, smoking. But, since Duramaxes are just "different", I didn't really try to think to hard about it.

My neighbor had a similar thing happen to his truck recently, he had 3 injectors let loose on him and said when they did it smoked like heck. His is an 05 dmax/allison.

It could be the truck I've been tuning, but i doubt he was in NC since his truck's in OH. The owner wanted a 'smoke' tune, so it just dumps fuel without regard to boost after ~85% WOT. I'm still having an issue with the 'charger lighting and trying to limp his tranny, but it's great fun! We NEED EFILive or something like it to really 'tune' the electronic Cummins.

You guys are scaring me, when in the passing lane at 75 with my trailer I get a little smoke should I worry

No mine smokes slightly when I am pulling nothing at 70 mph, with crazy larry in control.

the reason it smoked was it was probably chipped and at about 52-55mph is when the torque converter first locks in 5th gear so if lugged a little bit it will blow smoke.
