Satallite Internet and Networking
Satallite Internet and Networking
Hopefully I can get some help here. I have moved to the country and have lost my fast internet. We tried a wireless set up and it worked for a while but the thing is jammed up way too much(too many users).

We have looked at Satallite(USB) but there seems to be a problem networking our 5 computers together(everyone has there own). We are looking at trying to use another computer as a router.

Has anyone out there tried this? Is there a good software for doing this???

Thanks Dee

Re:Satallite Internet and Networking
Just like the folks said above,,,,get yourself a Router(D-link or Linksys). Usually they are 4 port with a single input from the supplying network. If you need more than 4 computers to have access, purchase a 4 port hub for $20 or so and then you will have a total of 6 ports. I have a D-Link Router and a 3Com 4 port hub that total I have $70 in the whole mess. I run a total of 6 machines and have had great luck.

Routers do not work with a satellite set up...you can set up one puter as a server and network the other to that puter using Internet Connection Sharing....with 5 users your better off using a switch instead of a hub

read this link it will give you everything to setup a satellite network

http://www.apet.net/satnetwork/
