Run 15w-40 Rotella in a ATV/Mower/Pressure Washer?
Does anyone run Rotella in there air cooled gas motors like a pressure washer, or push mower or lawn mower.
Whats your experience with running Rotella in a gas engine?
Rotella says API SM on the bottle.
I'm thinking about switching everything to Rotella, getting tired of keeping every flavor of oil, sae30 for push mower, 10w-30 for rider, and 10w-40 for other things etc.
Thanks,
John

I run Delo 15/40 in every thing. No problem but small engines may use a little oil. Just check it often(a little in a in a lawn mower is a lot). IN THE SHOP WE USE CASTROL 30 most customers never check the oil.

Small engines without an oil delivery system will beat multigrade oils and cause separation according to my small engine guy. Honda rec's only non detergent 30W for their air cooled stuff. We switched back last year and they seem to be running smoother wiht les mechanical failures.
Just what they are feeding me!

I used Rotella 15-40 in my old '83 gmc. (480k+miles)
I put 360+Kmiles on it after I inherited it.
That old engine was pretty limber so the thicker oil worked well. It was still running pretty well when I sold it after I got my '97 CTD.
The valve seals were leaking pretty badly though but still had fair compression.
I just couldn't afford to keep it in transmissions!!!
Those aircooled engines can run pretty hot, especially those that run at full load for long periods in the dead of summer. (Rotella 15-40 did well for me in my lawnmower and my old onan CCK generator.)

I have heard of this on one of my ATV forums, a lot of guys recommend running diesel oil in their quads. This was in the kingquad board, which is water cooled, but they said it's good in any atv

If you're running an air cooled small engine that is being worked hard, run a single grade 30 or 40 weight oil. I have 5 air cooled engines I use for business and I switched to multi grade oils (even full on synthetic) and they all used oil. Went back to Castrol 30 weight and no more oil usage. Those air cooled engines run REALLY hot and the multigrade oils do not seem to stand up.

I have run it in my pumps, gen sets, splitters ,mowers, tillers, whackers, n14 Cummins 8V92TA ,Detroit Diesels ,.cat, perkins cars ,and any thing else in the shop the only other oil I use is a 30wt non det. for the compressors pumps. I have never had an oil consumption issue ,other then the Detroits Maybe the oil is left in the engine to long?
