Was rear ended in my silverado last night...(pics)
Then a few hours later on my way into town I clipped a deer...Luckily there was no damage from the deer, I must have bumped his head with the strongest part of my truck just hard enough to encourage him to go back to the side of the street that he was orig. on.....
As for the prior accident, I was in stop and go traffic on I95 and when traffic stopped, the lady in her little Hyundai didn't. Luckily my truck is still drivable (not the case for her) and once the officer showed up I was out of there quickly and was able to continue on my way.
I already spoke with the insurance co. and the body shop about getting the repairs done and on the 14th I drop it off for approx. 6 days which is perfect for me because on the 15th Im going to texas for the week to work...
The only thing that I am a little uneasy with is the fact that they are going to try to repair the bedside first instead of replacing it. I would prefer a replacement but any body guys on here have any input as to your opinion on the matter? Will I be ok with the bedside being repaired vs replaced? The body shop does have a full warranty on any work they do for as long as I own the vehicle.
PICTURES!!!!!!! (more avail. if requested but these sum everything up)

Should I keep the "silverado"&"LT" badges or leave them off? (they are going to be removed during the repairs and new ones installed)

glad you are okay!
repair over replacement.
make sure your insurance/police report EVERYTHING... lists a non chargable accident.
leave badges off, we don't need no stinkin' chevy.... errr badges.
travel safe!

Yeah, I am fine. My neck was a little sore as if I slept on it wrong but got better throughout the day. Damage with repairing the bedside is $2,500. If they replace the bedside then the price will go up but as it stands thats the total unless more is found as they start to take it apart.
The officer stated to me a few times both in person and on the phone that I am not at fault for this accident. The girl that hit me even received a citation while I got nothing.
I have been trying to get a cummins for a while now and a small part of me was hoping that it was totaled so I could buy one finally haha... (truck was wrecked in a prior accident from PO)

Time to consider getting an aftermarket rear bumper...thats how I was able to get mine. Just had to cover the difference between the two. Be sure to add in anything that was going to be replaced with the stock bumper...if an upgraded bumper was on your wish list that is...

The guy at the body shop seemed pretty cool so I don't think it will be a big deal if I were to talk to them about the parts and an aftermarket rear bumper as long as I pay the difference.
They were unable to locate the ride side of the bumper (bumper is 2 pieces) so that brought the price up some so hopefully I can find something I like for about the same price..
As for the bed side I am going to go up there shortly and talk to him about getting a whole new bedside and not having them repair the current one.

No sense repairing it and having a bunch of bondo right where the tires throw up rocks. That's pretty banged up anyway. Not like it's on your dime. I'd insist on a new bedside.
Too bad it aint a Ford. I got the right side of a rear bumper. Can't buy just one side!

Insurance companies are all about the cheapest way out for them.
Since it's not YOUR insurance company, it won't affect your rates. Make them do it correctly.
The body shops that "contract" to the insurance companies don't always get the contracts due to their quality craftsmanship. Thinks Maaco auto paint, Earl Scheib, and other quick paint groups.
Make sure that they understand that if it's not correctly, you'll stick around like a wart

If they have a warranty though, and he seems pretty cool and knowledgeable, then that's
.As for the bumper, I'd go aftermarket and pay the difference. Mod on their dime.
Glad you are ok, and Bambi (mabye both bambis?) are ok too

The new Chevy's are pretty nice, if it had been front end damage maybe a sweet 12 valve engine swap would've been cool. You'd get it in a magazine for sure!!

I am going to call the shop tom when I get some time during work to discuss everything with them, plus today I took the tailgate off and noticed other damage that is not in the estimate. The bed floor on the right side is slightly buckled and if you stand a few feet back from the truck you can see that the whole right side bedside is tweaked inward. Also she hit my exhaust a little harder then I originally though becuase its now about 5 inches closer to the tire then on the other side (dual exhaust) so thats another thing that I have to talk to them about because the exhaust is not in the write up as well...
They guy that I spoke with did seem pretty straight forward and cool with everything while I was talking to him so I hope he stays that way when I point out all of these other things to him. As for the warranty on the work they do, if the bondo were to fall off by it self or paint starts to flake then they cover it. But if I were to hit the bondo by accident with my boot climbing into the bed and cause it to all crack and fall off then thats on my dime to fix, where as if that were to be a new bedside then ill have a little dent that I could prob knock back out myself...
As for the deer, it was't Bambi but her dad.. decent sized 6 point from what I could tell while trying to avoid him. Judging by the fact that there was no damage to my paper thin sheet metal fender from the impact I am sure he walked right back down towards the river in which he was coming from.
Will keep everyone posted as this whole situation unfolds, I am just hoping that it all goes smoothly...
Thanks again.

SIXSLUG- Yes, the new chevys are nice but I still would lover/prefer to own a cummins. If a new engine was required then the idea of a 12valve would definitely be considered.
