I just finished Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince...
It was actually pretty good.
Recently finished Under the Red Sea Sun, about naval salvage in Eritrea during WWII, and No Banners, No Bugles about the same in N. Africa. Both were written by RADM Edward Ellsberg, USNR. Great books. Good luck finding them though, they've been out of print for 45 years....

Just recently finished the last of Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan series, all of them are great. ( Starts with The Hunt for Red October and ends with The Bear and The Dragon)
Also Stephen Kings " Dark Tower " series.
Any Zane Grey, but" Under the Tonto Rim " and "The Hash Knife Outfit " are prob my favorites
The Horatio Hornblower series.... great 18th century naval warfare....
Tolkien, Marion Zimmerman Bradley, Terry Brooks( MUST READ: Angel Fire East!!)
and Ray Bradbury......

There is another author I used to read a lot of: John D. McDonald. He had a character in one series of books by the name of Travis McGee. Every title had a color in it, his writing style is excellent.

Well here goes my first reply. This is a great forum. Is this forum a book? I have been getting a lot of cool ideas about the diesel p/u truck I want to pull around my 23 foot travel trailer.
OK, back to the book, "The Traveler's Gift" by Andy Andrews. www.andyandrews.com
This book will give you seven decisions for personal success. It is how I will get that 2005 3/4 ton big horn Dodge truck.
Now I hope I did all this right and this post actually will work. I know I am a rookie and need to update my profile and post a photo, so I guess I'll get to work.

One of my favorite current writer's is John Sanford.
I also love all of James Michner's books. You can learn a lot of geography and history.
Wilbur Smith is also a great author.
Haven't thought about old Travis for some time. I loved the idea of the "Busted Flush".
Lot's of good books mentioned.
I have kinda fell out of the habit of reading for pleasure. Gonna have to fix that. Thanks.

Not as popular as Clancy, but a lot better read due to the facts. You need to start at the beginning of his series to understand it. It puts you in the middle of everything as if you were there.
Similar to the Jack Ryan series from Clancy, but overall a more historical read.

Blackhawk Down (Mark Bowden)
In the Company of Heroes (Michael Durant pilot of one of the Blackhawks, the one from the Newsweek cover)
Band of Brothers (Steven Ambrose)
Were all excellent reads, have read all of he several times.

I saw a book last week, at Costco, titled something like "the 50 best spiritual books" (by rusty memory). One of the books it summarized was "Black Elk Speaks". It is a narrative of the life, and vision, of a Lakota Sioux holy man who happend to be a cousin to Crazy Horse (of Custer's bad day).
We were on the way to the coast at the time, and I later found the book at a Lincoln City used bookstore. That man had a heart for his people - I recommend the book.
