Ram V10

Guys I'm really running on hard luck around here trying to find a decent used Cummins in my price range. A dealer has a '98 with a V10 but it has 90,000 on it. Anyone know anything about the realibilty of the V10?

Last time I looked there were quite a few on ebay. That should give you something to go by.
Also suggest you try www.ramtrucks4less.com. If they don't have what you want they may be able to get it for you. Great people to deal with. Tell them I sent you.

Re:Ram V10

I had a 97 V10. Very reliable. I was the one who ruined it, by putting a POS Paxton supercharger on mine.

Go here, a good site for V10 owners:

http://pub8.ezboard.com/bdodgeramv10

10 mpg, but the 360 ain't much better. V10 = 450 lb ft - not a Cummins or PSD, but that ain't bad!

My 2000 V10 was a good truck. Mileage - - . Only decent mileage is running empty at 55 mph. Towing my fiver gave me 6 to 7 - - 8 downhill.

Had 70,000 on it when it departed the stable - - no particular problems.

Re:Ram V10

I had a '96 v-10 and sold it with 130,000 miles. Absolutely no problems whatsover. I would have gotten another but I got a killer deal on my cummins. You will find that the mileage is no worse than a big block v8. I would not hesitate at all, lots of power.

Re:Ram V10

I hated my 2000 2500 V10. Nothing but problems and gas mileage always seemed to be around 6 MPG... Keep shopping for the cummins, you'll find one somewhere! ;D

Re:Ram V10

We've got a 2000 dually flatbed V-10. It's got a little over 50,000 on it, and it went in 4 times under warranty for a bad crank seal in the front of the engine. It's out of warranty now, and it's gone bad again. Could be an isolated case, I don't know. I got 14mpg one time with the wind at my back for 300 miles. Usually gets around 7 or 8. We got it before we got the 3500 in my signature. Would never get the V-10 again after having the cummins. With a load on, the V-10 isn't in the same class at the cummins.

Re:Ram V10

Yea I'm going to stick with another Cummins again. My old '88 F250 I have had for years finally gave its last breath several weeks ago, (190,000 on the old 302) so I have been having truck withdraws. Think goodness the seats in my wifes Explorer all fold down for hauling lumber.

I saw the V10 and what a beautiful truck but if I'm going to spend the money it should be on what I really want... a diesel no less!

Thanks for the replies gang!
