the Prophet Mohammed cartoons
the Prophet Mohammed cartoons
Are you guys as tired as I am from hearing about this? It's wrong to make cartoons over this "holy man" but it's ok to storm U.S. bases, burn embassies, and riot ? How ridiculous !!!
Then some state run Iranian newspaper wants to run a competition for the best cartoon of the Holocaust to see if the West will be ok with it as a freedom of expression. This is not even the in the same realm...comparing cartoons of an ethnic cleansing to cartoons of a religious figure.
This just enforces my belief that the so called "radical" muslims really are brainwashed
It seems these people really do want a world of death and destruction with them included in the chaos.

IT is a different religion, but the thing is it is not all muslims. Like amny religions they are a small group of radicals. They do want chaos, if you do not except the religion you are less than them and deserve to die. Kind of sounds like Hitler. I guess we now know that they can't take a joke.
Hopefully the Iranians can find a few good pics to put in their newspaper. That she be just enough to push the already upset Isralies into war. Nothing like getting a country with mandatory military service for men and women, one off the best special forces, and top notch spys envolved.

the koran doesnt state they are not a peace loving religion. i think unless you are educated about this subject you shouldnt speak about it. i have read the koran and it states they need to be peaceful and kind to all. the radical terrorists are to blame and are trying to disgrace the rest of the community. my parents are muslim. my dad is from pakistan and my mom converted she is from pikeville, ky. so i know what im talking about.

Really goes a long way to prove you are peace loving.

I read an interesting article on how other religons have reacted to somewhat similar situations; i.e Sinead O'conner ripping up a picture of the Pope.
Isn't it ironic how there has been NO (none, zero, nada) violence in the U.S over this??
What does that say about our Muslins over here?
I see bad things in Iran's future, things that are followed my mushroom clouds.
What's really odd about my thoughts on that are that I feel like France may be very involved in Iran's eventual demise??
Take it easy fella. Are you suggesting that just because you read it that your opinion on the topic is worth more?
I know a few people who have read the Holy Bible front to back (some more than once). They all have some different interpretations of certian books and verses. Religous text is not like an Encyclopedia, some of the stuff is vague and left up to the reader to comprehend.
My Mom is from Gladwyn, PA and my Dad from Lansdowne, I guess I couldn't possibly know what I am talking about.

Daniel, If what you are saying is true and I believe that is how you feel, peace and love and all that. I have to ask then why is it that Muslims are killing anyone that doesn't believe their way? Are not these Clerics calling for violent acts experts on the Koran as well?
I will side with sochuck on this one. However the problem goes much deeper than just religion. When you get into the middle east you have major social problems along with a majority of the people being uneducated. When you dont know any better and the state run newspaper an TV tell you that the west is your enemy what are you going to think? It is the same as these new diesel emissions standards in the states. A few ignorant people making decisions that affect us all but on a much bigger spectrum that we are powerless to change.
Is there hope for the east? Sure we are trying to accomplish this in Iraq. Let the people know whats going on so that they can run their own government. It will take time and a willingness to change on their part. Honestly I think that it is getting better but a lost cause. I dont see countries like kuwait stopping the exploitation on their poorer neighbors as a cheap labor force. As long as one country is making more money than they can spend and their neighbors are literally working for pennies a day what is the final outcome going to be? Look into our own history. LA and SC where the 2 richest states in the union prior to the civil war. The same can not be said about today. Economic strain brought on by the north after the war and a shift from american cotton caused a massive turn of events. Whats going to happen to the middle east when the oil dries up or we shift to a different fuel source? To sum it up even without the religious nut cases there is still major problems that are not going to be solved over night. We might as well face it. War is not over in the middle east nor will it be in the near future. It is just what you want to say the current crisis is over.

Take a population that is mainly un-educated and has a tradition of looking to their religious leaders for guidance, because those leaders were the few who had any form of education, and in the past, where the only channel of communication to tell the populace what was happening in the world. You will wind up with a population who places a great deal of faith in the "teachings" of their religious leaders and one that has become dependant on them.
Couple that with a few loudly outspoken leaders looking to unite a divided population, wither for good intent or to as a way of amassing power, who use a "religious enemy" as the tool for uniting the populace.
That is the core of the "extremism" we see in the mid-east. The Koran( and yes I have read it) DOES NOT SAY to kill any and every non-believer anymore than the Christian bible says to kill non-christians.( there are passages in the bible that could be interpreted that way if you wanted to)
Not everyone in the U.S. during the 60's was burning buildings or bombing campuses, but those were the folks that made the news and got attention.
Not ALL the muslims are terrorists or "hate and want to kill" all americans. That fact seems to get lost in the discussions sometimes.
Fanatical beleifs have espressed themselves over and over again through out history. Were all Germans ****'s? All Irishmen members of the IRA? Lets not confuse our enemy with the whole population of the mid-east. We fight a minority fringe, a private army no different than the IRA was. ( Remmember some of the IRA's tactics??? That was a "religious" war too...)
The greatest weapon we have against the terrorists and the "lunatic fringe" we are fighting is educating the populace.
and yes, I know many terrorists are college grads, but so were many of the domestic terrorists here in the 60's and the majority of the leaders of the IRA.
I am bothered when folks start saying " all muslims" or "all" anything...."all Jews".... "all Catholics"... "all (insert any group here)".........
Fanatisism is a dangerous thing no matter where it is practised.....

You need to read the Quran and the teachings of Mahammad and not the Koran. Mahammad was kind of a bi-polar kind of guy and the Quran was his teachings on killing everyone that won't conform to Islam. To be specific the versus's of Surah will tell you a lot about the madman. They are to only be peaceful if they rule the world and everyone follows Islam. They to this day practice apostacy and will kill anyone that converts from Islam to Christianity within their community. Even school age children. 10 % of the Muslims are Fundamenalist Islamics and believe this way which amounts to 100 million of their society. If we as a nation don't realize that they think this way and realize it quick we will find out the hard way at the end of a nuke. John Hagee has a new book out called Jurusalem Countdown that goes into some of the teachings of the Quran and is very informative.
