Propane
Have you shopped for propane lately? After topping off in Dec for $600 ($1.79#), then wanting alomost $650 for another 300# last week, they send me a bill for $50 for "low use fee". I topped off back in June too! Went to another company. Quoted $496 to switch tanks, fill up and permit included. $1.09# for new customer. Permit was $35. The other place charged $50, 3 years ago. Also, I will be locked in at $1.45# till June, if needed. "Low use" only kicks in if less than one fill up a year apparently.
Called the initial company yesterday to set up a disconnect. They said to let it run down to 5% so they could transport. So I'm suppose to run down to 5%, then shut everything down until the other guy has the ability to set up? Sorry, tank was set this morning, still over 10% on the old one. The new company asked me to leave a little more than 5% to off-set any pick up fee they might try to charge. My neighbor did this and ended up having to threaten storage fees to get the old tank picked up. That tells you how bad they needed the tank paid for by those "low use" fees. He might even have a big regulator for me to fill one of my 100# tanks...hmmmmm.

I use propane to heat my 5th wheel trailer which I live in FT. I have two 30# tanks built-in and I bought a 100# tank that sets outside. I have a winch which I use to hoist the 100# into the truck and I go down to the cheapest place I can find to get them filled. Last time it cost me $49 for the 100# to fill and the three tanks last me all winter.
The local Farmland guys won't even talk to me unless I agree to buy their 500# tank and getting them to fill the little bottles is a PITA. I told Farmland that they didn't act like they wanted my business and the woman just shrugged her shoulders and I walked out of there and haven't been back. I go to a local gas station for it and it's cheaper anyway. If you can afford to haul it yourself you're better off shopping for the best price.
