I used on my truck and I would not buy it again. Most of actually started peeling off in big flakes. I used some regular spray paint at the same time in some other areas and it is still holding up.

I agree with sidewinder, I think POR 15 is over hyped! I wouldn't buy it again, based on price & the time involved to go through the steps to apply. I have heard good things about Rustbullet, I will have to give that a try. I never heard of Picklex-20, but will look into that as well. I just used the new Eastwood rust encapsulator, and so far it is holding up well. Definitely disappointed with POR15. I applied it as stated on the can, with a thorough prep job, and experienced flaking and small bubbling

POR-15 is a pain to use. It works very well, but only after you've totured yourself into the "proper" application, and bought about triple the price in prep proucts.

The Eastwood stuff is really good. It's the king of easy-to-use, as you can actually get it in aerosol cans. It's probably not the best in durability, but it's easy enough to use and cheap enough that I'd stil consider it.

Rust Bullet is really good. Think of it as POR-15 minus the pain. It also won't let rust creep like por-15 can.

Once you get the rust fixed, throw on some LIZARD SKIN!! www.lizardskin.com

I am wanting to protect the underside of my truck but also convert all that rust in to something else. Lots of rust and rust flakes. Hmmm, I feel a poll coming on soon.

The oilpan on my wife's explorer is starting to rust, would one of these products be good to apply? And can I do it without removing the pan?

my experance with por-15 is not so good. we put it on the rusty rocker's on one of the trucks. even after following there directions to the letter it almost imeaditly begain to rust and bubble under the paint.

From what por-15 tells me on color. All the colors are the same except for silver wich is better for filling in scarred metal more. All por 15 breaks down badly in UV so it must be top coated. So color dosent really matter.

I guess I am the only one that has had good luck with POR-15 products. I have redone the front a-arms on my car, after degreasing, sandblasting, metal ready and the two coats of por-15 they have lasted 10 years with no rust.

I just did the rear frame on my truck using a different technique. My frame was very rusty with heavy scale. I degreased the truck frame, used a needle scaler to remove the loose rust, then treated with metal ready, Por-15, self etching primer, and chassi coat black top coat. So far one michigan winter without rust!

You can check my DTR photo album for restoration pictures.

You might think about using Ospho. It works great.

I have never used the por15 stuff, but I have used Ospho. Back in high school, we used it to seal the rust on a barrel we were using for making a pig cooker in ag class, then we painted over it. So far, from what I hear, no rust has come through, and nothing more has formed.

I thought so much of it, I went and bought a container of it. I used it on some small bolts, and on part of a fender on our 77 dodge. Until we sold the 77 the rust never came through, nor did it spread any where else. Pretty good stuff, I must say.

Oh yeah, we used it on our old dog kennels also that were starting to rust, and it held up fine. Just painted over it each time I used it.

I took a 1987 Dodge W250 hood and sanded approx. 25% down to bare metal over a year ago, treated it with Picklex and today it still has not rusted, nothing else on it but the Picklex. It has been sitting in my storage unit the whole time, almost forgot about it until tonight!
