PM's

A few days ago, (apparently), someone sent me a Private Message, but due to the, um, 'malfunction' here at the forum, I was unable to retrieve it~!

If the person that sent me that PM reads this, I just wanted you to know that I wasn't ignoring you! Can you send it again?

Thanks.

chaikwa.

I know this is off subject, but, untill I went to a wedding by Grand Rapids Michigan, I though Kalamazoo was a fictional placed used on TV to make people laugh...

Imagine my suprise when driving down the highway, I see Exit here for Kalamazoo...

Sorry for the thread hijack,
Merrick

That's ok, it makes ME laugh too. And I LIVE here!

While you were in Grand Rapids, did you see the 'Rapids'? Or for that matter, did you see anything 'Grand' about it? There are a lot of city and town names here that I have yet to figure out. 'Climax' for example... never got ME excited! There's an 'Asyria' and a 'Butman', neither of which I would be inclined to visit. And of course there's 'Hell', which may be the only accurately named town in the state! At least when someone tells me to go to '*ell' now, I know how to get there! And I can say I've been to '*ell' and back as well.

I'm from New England originally and Michigan is a lot like New England was 20 years ago; a little slower pace, less people and generally the people here are truly friendly. Imagine my surprise when I first walked in a store out here and the clerk said, "May I help you?" and actually MEANT it! It really IS a great place, despite the weird town names!

How's THAT for keeping a thread hi-jacking alive? And it was MY thread!

Just pull out a Michigan map. It'll entertain you for a bit, places like Bruce, Detour, if you want to see some wierdo's, check out Empire/Glen Haven area.

I hope that there's really a Kalamazoo. My son is graduating from Kalamazoo College next month!

I live in Leelanau county, Michigan, where Glen Haven and Empire are located. Up here we do have Peshawbestown, Mesick, Benzonia, Beulah, Topinabee, etc. Picturesque places, one and all.

I am assuming that Don was refering to place names, and not the people.

It's Blueball, not Blue *****. We do have a town named Intercourse, though. RRRrrrr... It's right near Paradise.

Sorry, Wannadiesel. It had been so long since I looked at a map of that area I forgot just how it was spelled. Around here there is a town called Aitken and then you can get to Remer.
