If atheists do not like our way of doing things, go to Russia or other European countries where they will be taken as normal.

Our nation is not based on 'your way of doing things', nor is it truly American to send atheists, or gays, or anyone opposed to the war in Iraq, or anyone who does not like diesel trucks, etc. to somewhere else in order to make some of the people around here happy.

There are plenty of other nations that do behave like that, though, and there's no shortage of theocracies in this world. Maybe it would be more practical for you to go to one of them rather than inviting so many others to leave?

I just would not want an athiest to feel uncomfortable in a God fearing nation. I live in the greatest God fearing nation ever created, thankyou. I am very comfortable here without atheists changing it.

I am glad that you don't want me to feel uncomfortable though. I'm personally not trying to change anything as long as you don't force what you believe down my throat. If you do.. then I might try to change something. Other than that... we're cool.

Like I said before... Say the pledge if you want. If you don't want too, then don't say it. Simple as that.

I usually say... "One nation, Under King George......" anyway.

Please Don't do it. It was my mistake and I shouldn't have posted it. I knew better and I apologize.

Just for the record, I never insinuated forcibly shipping anyone off to another country, just seems that if they are not happy with the American dream they would be happier going to a country more consistent with their beliefs.

God fearing.... If you don't live the requirements of God's love and rule, I fear the consequences. Not a religious argument, just a definition of the term.

Yeah, me too. But then again we're told that we'll burn in Hell forever if we don't believe... sure glad that isn't meant to make us feel uncomfortable...

Personally I don't give a flip what you believe, one way or another. I only care about myself and those that are close to me. Every man has to meet his own destiny, me and you both. But when it comes to removing God from this country, that is a different issue. Then you are stepping on my beliefs. Who is changing what? God has always been a part of this county and my way of life. Now a small minority, that believs differently are trying to change my Country. That matters.

There is no conspiracy by the "right wing" "fundimentalists" to take over America. American has always been there already. It is the anti-God bunch that is trying to change things.

I grew up in schools that said the Lords Prayer each morning and the Pledge. Everyone was happy with that situation. After 200 years of American way of life, all that is now Unconstitutional. Funny the writers did not think so.

So in short, have your own beliefs, they are none of my business. But don't get in my face depriving me of mine. It is not a religious belief, but a fact that this country was founded on Judeo/Christian belief and became the greatest nation every concieved. Now that is being torn down and the nation if falling in moral, world standing, and respect from even its own people. How many men have died in greatness, on national scale, here or anywhere, to be remembered as great men in history..... that were athiests? Yeah, Hitler, Stalin, Ceaser, not famous, but infamous.

Once again, the principle of separation of church and state has nothing to do with depriving you of your beliefs (your beliefs, by the way, and not everyones) but if you want to see it that way then that's your right, and I guess you're not alone. Personally I'm glad that it's the Supreme Court's opinion that matters though.

Plenty. Among the Founding Fathers, Benjamin Franklin and James Madison were quite certainly atheists. Most of the rest were freethinkers at the very least. How about Samuel Clemens? Socrates?

I still think Newdow is a silly goof. The word "god" doesn't necessarily imply establishment of any particular religion. At a sufficient level of abstraction, it's merely shorthand for a concept and as such doesn't seem to violate the non-establishment clause.

Lance Armstrong, Marlon Brando, Rodney Dangerfield, Albert Einstein, Jodie Foster, Bill Gates, Billy Joel, Bruce Lee, Jack Nicholson, Ron Reagan Jr., Andy Rooney, Ted Williams, me, probably thousands who are not inclined to say so.

Remember who started the censorship cruisade with "I'm offended by"... It wasn't the lefties. You reep what you sow.
