plane crashes into Hi rise Apartment building in NY

Seems to be a small aircraft of some kind, no real facts yet to report on what happened.

Update seems to have been a helicopter impacted around the 18th floor

I dont think this is a terrorist attack, personally I think that if there is another it will be even worse than the first, Sept. 11 was totally unexpected and caught everyone off guard, the terrorists looked for a weakness and found it. If there is another I don;t think it will be by plane, as they know that will be one of America's main focus's. But then agin this is just what I think....

They are now saying it was a small fixed wing aircraft, witnesses described it as wobbily or possibly doing acrobatics before it crsahed. Sounds like the pilot was having mechanical difficulties.

Thanks for the article link. I especially enjoyed the "Victorias Secret" advertisement to the right. I don't think Victoria has any secrets left.

We had a college student go missing here a couple days ago. He was coming back from Alabama and never returned. He was in a small plane as well. I have to say I don't trust them little planes. Missed the Victoria Secret add, must have decided it was not good to have that add next to this type of story.

That wasn't that funny considering the circumstances of that article.

You'll just have to hit "refresh" to catch it. It is one of those changing advertisements!

Corey Lidel. New York Yankees pitcher. Said to be the owner and pilot of the plane.

Latest reports state there were two people in the aircraft, Corey Lidel, and his flying instructor.

EDIT: Didn't read all the posts. I retract my statement in respect.

Latest news on the radio here says he was still strapped in the seat and lying right next to the passport on the street. That is so terrible. Apparently Steinbrenner made a statement already.

Thank god nobody else was hurt and prayers to the families affected.
