Pistols . .
Pistols . .
I am looking to buy a pistol for protection. I have already obtained my permits and am wondering what all do you carry. I am looking for a semi-auto, not a revolver. Glock comes to mind, but am open to others as well. What is out on the market that is relatively small, and is easily concealed, that YOU like.
I would even consider a .22 but my Desert Eagle that I previously owned was WAY too heavy.

I DON'T carry a 1911-A1.
( Never know who in this communist State Gvt. might be watching )
That said, unless you commit to training with it, I would not want you to carry one.
Pretty much any of the wonder nines would work so long as it has a real safety.

It all depends upon the laws in your state. Some states such as Texas allow law abiding citizens to apply for a concealed carry permit. You have to submit fingerprints, go through FBI Background checks, take a class, qualify at the range and pay some money. Maybe someone here from your state will chime in as to if your state has a concealed carry law.

I just picked up a Skyy Industries CPX-1 9mm. Tiny little thing. 9 rounds to a magazine. Light weight, inexpensive and reliable. I bought it since my Kimber 1911 is a little uncomfortable in hot weather and summer clothing. The Kimber is still my favorite though.
The arguement over which caliber to use has been beat to death. I do not wish to go into the 9mm vs .40 vs .45 debate. That being said a carry a HK .40 USP compact. It holds 12+1 rounds and I like the .40 S&W cartridge. I carry Winchester Ranger 180gr JHP ammo in it unless I am at the range. On the day where I am dressed a little lighter, and maybe want to carry something a little smaller, then I carry my Ruger 2 1/4" SP101 loaded with 145gr JHP +P 38 spl. Bottom line is for you to use what is comfortable for you to shoot. Go to a range that rents guns and shoot till you can't shoot anymore. Get a feel for what you like and then make your decision. Nobody here can make that decision for you. I would, however, recommend that you don't go any smaller than .380/38 spl/9mm for a defensive handgun.
Check www.packing.org for laws in your state regarding concealed weapons permits. Also a good option for checking the reciprocicity of other states with yours.

I used to carry my PPK/s .380 but recently upgraded to a Glock G22 .40.
Not very concealable, but I manage.
I'm eagerly awating the Walther PPS.
Supposed to be out anytime now in 9mm, .40 coming later this fall.
About the same size as the PPK, but with more punch.
