Pics of a Ram w/ 22's, 37's, and 8" lift...

I was up at Fun Ford Weekend at Ennis, TX this weekend. Saw this truck up there, talked to the owner for a bit. Said the front's got springs/shocks etc, but the rear was done with lift blocks. Said he didn't lose much mpg at all, and it's fine towing, not sure how much he tows though. I think it looks pretty good, not sure how much I'd like 22's, but they seem to look good here. Just wanted to give ya a look at what that combo looked like.

Doesn't seem it would be too good offroad though...I don't see much articulation happening by lifting the truck with lift blocks.

Anyone go this big with their truck? How did it affect your mpg? How is it towing? I've got some searching to do...

That's a clean looking truck right there. I'm like you and don't really care much for the 22's. Lifting the rear with blocks was the cheap way to do it. The good way would be to buy re-arched springs.

Too much rim, not enough tire.

22's would work, if the tires were 44's or bigger.

As far as looks, Id have to agree with Phox. If your going to run 22's, you need more tire to balance out the combo.
35's wrapped around 22's looks too toy-like.
Bigger tires would balance things out for a great looking truck.

As far as function, Id have to guess 22's and 35's (or bigger) create a lot of unsprung weight that the brakes have to stop.
Id guess a combo like that may still get ok mileage but will eat brakes pretty quick... especially if he tows.

Dont phase me too much..

I dont like the big rims, the stance is fine, its perfect, just different rims and tires are needed...

Not near enough sidewall... Looks bad, horrible off-road. Nice stance though.

generally, blocks give better flex than a spring with more arch. that's due to higher arch springs being harder to flex and being longer, become limited by a stock shackle.

and I'll catch hell for this - but full size trucks suck offroad. Weight is bad, and full-size trucks aren't light.

I don't imagine U-joints would last long if he were towing any real weight. The angle needs to be less for severe service, not more.

He said he's got something that went onto the back of the transfer case to change around the pinion angle, I forget what though.

Do you think some fender flares would help out with the akwardity (I just made that up BTW) of the tires sticking out?
