PC Pitstop optimize?

has anybody used this? its $39.95 and suppose to git rid of junk space or trash or whatever makes the computer slower.
it did a scan and found like 26,000 errors, that could free up space if erased.
has anybody used this? is it worth it or should i just buy some more memory?

this is what i have, HP pavilion a1100y 512mb memory (maybe more?), 40gig 7200rpm SATA.

my computer use to be really fast, but after looking at junk on the internet, its a little slow now.
will this pc pitstop optimize help me or no?

thanks dieselfan

Have you used free programs like AdAware and Search and Destroy to get rid of all the spyware?

Then use a free program like CCleaner to keep the trash from building up.

Try the Microsoft Defender, it's free and really good.
And I recommend Avast for a free virus scanner.

PC Cillin has a good one as well.
http://www.trendmicro.com/en/home/us/personal.htm

Look on the right, and you will see 'Trend Micro Housecall'

There are also some trial programs you can use.

Did you defragment your drive?

I have it. It is not antispyware or an antivirus. It optimizes internet settings, fixes registry problems and gets rid of unnecessary startup programs etc. You can use it on all the computers you own. It helped my computers.

I've never heard of Defender, but if they are free, get both of them. You probably only need 1 of them.
I like the CCleaner.

The 3 things I gave you are all FREE products, they do the same thing the paid programs do only they are FREE

Another thing to do is to click on start..run and type in msconfig...then click on the start up tab. each of those checked boxes are programs that start up automatically and slow down your system. Some are necessary and many are not.

Search Google with the name of the program next tot the check mark to find out if it is a necessary program. If it isn't you can remove the check and it will not start up the next time you start your pc.

All those programs can be started by you when you need them

You should do a disk cleanup first and the software for that is right on your computer already.
Click on MyComputer on the desktop and when it opens highlight your C:\ drive, right click on it and select properties, left click on properties and select disk cleanup. It might take a while and you can choose what you want to save or delete.I let it delete everything it finds, cookies, temp files and all.You will gain a lot of drive space if you have never done it and you should do it once in a while as maintainance. The program that you were going to buy probably uses Microsoft disk cleanup to do what it does with a different face on it,Norton does that a lot to make you think it is giving you something for your money. When you get that done run your SpyBot/Ad-Aware programs.
I use the AVG antivirus software, the free version and it seems to do quite well.Ron G
