Paris,Tx and Tulsa,Ok What's There
Were going on a road trip and lookin for something to do along the way. The furthest stop will be Paris Texas to get fitted for a pair of saddles and from there back up to the corner of missouri to spend a few days figuring out where we wanna move to when we grow up. The only city I see between there is Tulsa and I have worn this computer out lookin for tourist spots on the net, both of these towns have done pretty poor job of advertising. So for all you locals to the area what is there to do in between Paris Tx and Joplin Mo.
I have a friend that lives in Tulsa, there isn't alot to do there regularly, They do have a pretty nice gun show a couple time per year, but the fall show has already happened and there wont be another till spring.
Other than that, there is fishing on Tenkiller (east of Tulsa) or fishing on Lake Texhoma along the Texas/Oklahoma border.
If your looking for theme parks, its either Branson, MO or OKC, OK. There isn't much for touristy spots in this area that doesn't involve hunting, fishing, hiking, camping, or dope.

The Spudder has the best prime rib in the world. Grilled like a steak and AWESOME.
Bass Pro Shops just opened a store in Tulsa (actually Broken Arrow, but it borders Tulsa.)
Some hiking trails on Turkey Mountian, and I believe west of town as well.

I've lived in and around Paris, Tx all my live and I can personally tell you there is not alot here as far is tourist type stuff. I'll try to give you the highlights.(and there are not many)
the city cemetery- there is a monument that has Jesus in cowboy boots on the top of it. lot of poeple come to look at it
J&K Ranch- have exoctic animials, horseback riding, stuff like that.
Shelby (of mustang fame) has Circle C ranch east of town, it's one big mother to, makes the 5000 arce ranch next to it look like a hobby.
Pat Mayes Lake- big lake with camping
fountian in middle of town kinda neat- worthy of a pic I guess
thats all i can think of.
Interesting fact about Paris is that Paris Junior College (PJC) is rating top 10 in the world (or was) for its jewerly and nursing departments. pretty impressive for a hick town.

If you like pretty scenery, the drive up from Paris to Tulsa following 59 along the Arkansas river and across Grand lake is real pretty country. If you want to take a slight side route, go west across northern Texas to I-35 and go north through OK City, again georgeous country and theres alot to see along that route, but it will add about 4 hours to teh trip....
If there's a statue of Jesus in cowboy boots and a fountain that's worth the 1000 mile trip all by itself. What more could there be. Actually sounds like it will be a nice drive after all. We have travelled through all of this country before but it was just driving through. I have a bad habit when were traveling to have a destination and get so focused on it that I forget to stop and enjoy the trip. This time were gonna take our time and do some stoppin along the way. I aint gonna miss the Bass Pro Shop and Prime Rib in Tulsa, those will be a for sure layover. Then we will be spendin the week somewhere just South of Joplin trying to figure out which little hicksville we wanna live in someday. Again thanks for all the ideas.
