Oregon road info

Heading to Oregon in the spring. In San Diego now, came here from Florida. Going the inland route up 99 through the valley with a stop in Sacremento on the way. Want to get over to the coast highway north of Sacremento. For any of you who travel the area, what is the best way across to the coast? I am thinking of using 20 across to 101 and north through Eureka and on up the coast to Coos Bay where we will stay this summer. Any better way?

That would be the shortest and cleanest route, nice drive.

Thanks. I just needed reassurance, I guess, that I would not get hung up on some junk road.
