For Old Grunts, Squids, and others

Need some help here guys.
We've got our guys some M-14's to give some added punch to the 16. I need some info on a M-21 accessory kit( m-21 is the m-14 sniper rifle). I don't have any info since all we have is the M-24 bolt gun.
I think the accessory kit is the scope, mount, and possibly a drag bag. Just not sure. Some Richardweed is trying to tell us that it's the same as the deployment kit for the M-24. Got that corrected.
Any info on accessories for the 14 will be compensated for in BEER.
Thanks in advance.(keeping on topic, we use diesel fuel to clean with )

I don't have a clue ... but we have a Seabee unit next door and a transit cadre of Marines that I will ask . Surely someone will know something about something.

Got EOD in my back yard and some hook ups around the office. I'll look into it in the AM and get back to you.

We haven't used M-14's for a while, except for the Silent Drill Team. There are a bunch of guys that use them for long range matches. A search of gun clubs in your area would probably get you closer. Those guys love to talk about their 14's. You could also call the NRA. There is a dept. that will answer your questions.
These guys might know:

Shortround, Thought this was cute and amusing. Entered M-21 accessory kit in a search and came up with this:www.sbccom.apgea.army.mil/RDA/mds/m21.htm

I don't think the scope mounts are interchangeable. The scope should work with either rifle. And is the M24 the same as the M40?
Other accessories needed for the 14 is a bipod, a bunch of 20rd mags, the selector switch for rock-n-roll and a good spotter (doubles as ammo-boy). ;D

M21 The XM21 Sniper Rifle was developed jointly by the Army Weapons Command (Rock Island, IL), Combat Development Command (Ft. Benning, Ga), and the Limited Warfare Agency (Aberdeen, MD). The XM21 was an accurized M14 National Match (NM) semi-automatic rifle equipped with a Leatherwood 3X-9X Adjustable Ranging Telescope (ART). The Rock Island Arsenal converted 1,435 M14NM rifles to XM21 sniper rifles for initial fielding to Vietnam in 1969. The rifle was initially fielded with a hardwood stock, which was later replaced with a fiberglass stock. The XM21 was officially type classified M21 in 1975, though it had been informally called the M21 since December 1969. It was the primary Army sniper rifle of the Vietnam war and remained standard until replaced by the bolt-action M24 Sniper Weapon System beginning in 1988. The M21 was accurate to 750 yards (690m). The rifle used U.S. match grade M118 NATO 7.62mm cartridges, in five-round or 20-round magazines. The ART telescope featured a variable magnification power of from 3X to 9X, for adjustable ranging between 300m and 900m. This adjustable ranging feature removed much of the guesswork from aiming at the target. The ART was ballistically matched with U.S. M118 NATO ammunition (1,800).

M40 In 1996 the USMC started on the design for the replacement of the M40A1, the result was the M40A3. It uses a Remington 700 short action, with a steel floorplate assembly and trigger guard built by D.D. Ross. The Unertl rings and bases have been replaced with D.D. Ross base and BADGER ORDNANCE Machine rings. The rifles also come with a Harris bipod and an accessory rail, built by G&G Machine. The stock is a new McMillan A4, with adjustable cheek and length of pull. As the M40A1's rotate in for service and repair, they are replaced by M40A3's. All M40A3s are built by USMC Armorers at Quantico Virginia. The M40A3 is an outstanding replacement for the aging M40A1's. The rifles are extremely accurate, very rugged, and are designed from the ground up to be a superb sniper rifle. Combined with the new M118LR ammo, it makes a system that is ranked with the best in the world.

Shortround,
Sounds like you got a good price, we where contacted by the gov. procurement people to supply an electric motor that one supplier quoted $65,000.00 and 364 day delivery , and a water screen @$2000.00 , our cost on the screen is only $40.00, can't say what cost on the motor is, but it's only very low 4 figures, not high 5's. That's OUR tax money they are peeing away.
