I really don't see any humor in it at all.
Can you say child abuse?

You must be kidding.....Like Larry the Cable Guys says "that's funny I don't car who you are"
We all laugh, because it isnt our child.....Yea, i laughed, but if someone had ever done something like that to MY son...
"shots fired"
.........
That kid is way too young for that, and at least a decent father should have been more concerned with comforting his son than with running his video camera.....I can understand that the Dad may not have expected the kid to react that strongly, we all have made mistakes as parents, but once he was crying and that visibly upset, well...thats where he screws up IMHO......

This is funny stuff when you are old enough to assimilate that there are not monsters lurking around every corner and under the bed in the dark. I wonder how funny it would have been if the child hurt himself when striking that high voltage cathode ray tube. The father could have just as easily been video taping his own childs death or dismemberment.
Yeah I know that is an extreme case but as a grandfather myself I would like to throttle that creep. Any father that chooses to get his jollys at the expense of his small child like that.........well I just can't say what I am feeling without banning myself from this site.

Your kidding right? Kids going to have issues?? Because he was scared once?? Two days from now he won't even remember it. Kids have issues today because mommy and daddy coddle them too much. Not because they get spooked by an internet game. Child abuse.....

Raise your kids how you want, but THAT kid was too young for what happened. He was hysterical and out of control. That is not how I taught my kids to react to a scarey (or any) situation. It was video taped for OUR ammusement, not as lesson for the kid and I think it crossed the line. Laugh all you want, but it is child abuse in the eyes of the law.

We're all assuming that it was a dad that played the trick on the kid., but it could have easily been an older brother or someone else. Just food for thought.
I felt sorry for the kid, but I still thought it was funny (so did my wife by the way).

I've seen kids go hysterical and out of control because mommy says no chips in the grocery store. Is that child abuse? I just kick 'em outa the way and run my cart through.

BTW it was his stepfather to be (according to another web site)

"It's just may way of 'sticking it to the man'".
"But, Sir, you *are* the man"
"Yes."
"So you're sticking it to yourself?"
"I guess so.."
Child abuse is only one thing.
LACKING.
More of it and thered be a little more control in this darned country.
Im only 21, i got my rear whooped plenty of times, and im glad. for it.
No worse than letting your kids watch horror movies, except those have a longer lasting effect on them.
Posting it on the internet, pretty lame. Doing it to begin with, awesome. i had plenty similar things done as a child and all it does is teaches you not to be so darned gullible and sissy like.
I agree, there are lots of people who let there kids do anything they wan't because they don't believe in "corporal punishment." people who believe that way don't understand that your not spanking your kid to hurt them, your doing it because they need to know your dissappointed and they did something wrong. You wouldn't try to explain to your dog why it's a bad idea to pee on the carpet would you?
EDIT: thought this was appropriate http://www.religioustolerance.org/spanking.htm
thie last link is funny "Please proceed to the main spanking menu" sorry I'm kinda imature. But I doubt that if you don't spank your child they will be less likly to have mental illness.
