"Nothing Pulls like a Ram3500 Hemi"

Listening to the radio today I hear a commercial come on about a dealer alittle north of me. They were talking about the greatness of the Rams and the Hemi engines, and to come in a test drive one yady yadda...
At the end of the comercial he says " Remember Nothing will pull a trailer and haul your tools better then a Dodge Ram 3500 with a Hemi" . I started busting up laughing,I can name a few pickup engines that can pull better then a Hemi. I think the only reason the commercial is like that is becuase a Dodge with a Cummins is not as popular up here, you see more Duramaxxs and Powerstrokes.

Maybe I should go uyp and smack the dealer ship up side the head and get them to order some Diesel trucks in.

Jeff

I think I might have backed over a hemi yesterday, I'm not sure though. Thought I felt a little bump.

Yeah you are right, the old cummins is not as popular in Maine as the Duramaxes and powerstrokes. I find that funny too, from my experiences going to IRP this summer, there seemed to be about 2 or 3 cummins for every Duramax of Powerstroke. I guess the word has not gotten here yet that CUMMINS RULES

Although the Hemi does a great job towing up to it's tow rating, in my case a little more, I'll have to say the commercial is over the edge. I can actually run faster up some hills towing our 10k lb 5th wheel with the Hemi powered 2500 than I could with our bone stock 250hp/460ftlb '03 Cummins Ram on the same hills with the same 5th wheel. But at 70mph in 2nd gear up those steep ones, it's at 5k rpm. That and the Hemi is not a medium duty engine like the 5.9 Cummins. If I towed 10k lbs daily, I don't think the Hemi would last too long. Gotta keep things in perspective... We tow our 5th wheel several times a year. Not a problem for the Hemi. Our normal speed is 65mph/2800rpm on the flats and rolling hills and 60mph up the steep ones at 4200rpm/peak torque multiplied by 1.67, 2nd gear. There are several 3500 duallies running around here with the Hemi. It's a fine engine for what it is and will do well for a 3500 work truck. But you won't see any 3500 Hemi's towing auto-transporters. They're all Cummins and a few PSD's when they're running.

Down here dealers will give you a stupid look for wanting a 3500 with a Hemi.

I went up to the Northern Maine Fair and went to the truck pulls. Their was three Cummins(3500DRW,2 2500) and about 6 Duramaxxs(2500) 3 Powerstrokes(F250).

My salesman said the Cummins was a V-8. I asked him to let me see it.
He was silent for a few seconds, and said you know more about it than I do. How do you want it ordered?

Down here in SC they are finally figuring out what a cummins is. I had to drive to TX to get both of mine. When I bought my 04 there was a couple from Columbia SC doing the same thing! Our dealers arnt to bright. Of the 2 I found locally one was a 03 paint factory buy back (before being sold) and the other was fully loaded laramie. The dealer actually told me they dont make trucks under $55k. Funny I payed over 20K less than that!

1. My sales guy always calls it a "Cummings" engine
2. He thinks they just became "turbo charged" this year...
3. He always says "you know more about it than me, just go look"

I like him though, he's a good guy. I've bought 3 RAMs from him and a couple Durangos and have sent a few people his way for vehicles...
