Morning everyone. So I'm pretty upset, didn't do well this semester, but I knew that was coming. I am having troubles finding a major I am actually interested enough in to show up to class. I love to learn, just not school. I'm thinking switching to history. I absolutely love history; but have no clue what I would do with a BA in history. Heck, I just want the piece of paper at this point. I was pretty upset last night..but today is a new day. My brother told me last night that I can only do the best that I can, and screw everyone else So, today is a new day...time to get started at work. Hope all is well.

Unless you want to teach high school, or be a bank teller a History degree is useless. Switch to business / marketing / accounting and tough it out.

College degrees aren't for everone. Maybe you should consider something else for awhile. You can always go back to school.

Agreed! Whats that old commercial? a mind without an education is wasted potential, but a wasted education is just a waste? your education will shape the course of the rest of your life...

you NEED to apply yourself to get it done, and get on with life.
a degree is just a "punched ticket" but it means $5~10 hour pay difference where i work now.

 

I didn't miss that many classes really. Only a couple. And beer, I haven't had a beer over a month. If I do drink, it's on the weekends. It is what it is. Gotta get on with it.

 

my son has now figured out that he SHOULD have stuck it out for the last month........everyone needs a mentor, work boots to the butt now and then.

Well, the coffee is just right. Nice and chewy with a "hint" of something extra.

Came in to work early tonight to play "guess where I'm going" one more time. As of now, 1 Jun I am transferred to Wendal H. Ford Training Center in Greenville Ky. That's about an hour and 45 minutes commute one way. Trying to pull the senioity play and get on at the Louisville Air National Guard site. (30 mile commute). May have to take a cut in pay though to get it.

One way or the other, I still have a job, so that's a good thing.

Took a load of scrap steel to salvage today. Steel is down to $90 a ton, but the stainless and brass is up nicely $$$$.

Gotta go, coffee is rebelling and trying to rise up and smite me........

Yes sir. Like I said, it is what it is. The only thing I can do now is focus on doing well next semester. I really have to put my mind to it. I just aint a school kinda guy, I like learning on my own...not what they WANT me to learn, if that makes sense. Thanks Mark, Heidi, 04, Geico. The support helps I just need to get my butt in gear!

Got my trailer tire replaced last night/today. One of the tires was a 16.5" while the rest were 16" Well they replaced the tire with another one. Got home after going to Wallyworld and getting ice cream, then had some dinner. Went outside and the "new" wheel didn't fit. The hub hole was too small, it didn't fit over the hub cap. So I get the other tires on it and put the one tire in the back of the truck. Get there when they opened. A guy looks at it and said "Hmmm. We have to special order something to fit that. bring in 1 of the other tires." So I go home (30 mins drive, 1 way.) Get the another tire. Take it back. He looks at it and said, "Oh! its a modular trailer tire. We just got a pallet of them." I ask him what the other tire was. "Its off a Chevy 1/2 ton."

Then I got Mom something special. Got her favorite flowers (carnations) and planted some in window pots. Put 1 up by the kitchen window and 1 on the the fence outside the window.

Power washed the truck and engine compartment today. Looks much better.

Got some quotes for tire/wheel combo's for my truck. Eagle Alloys 058 with 265/75 R16 AT for $1000 out the door. It include tax, mounting, chrome nuts, caps. Nice setup.

Josh Ok here's my .02 worth. Have you tried or thought of any trade related work that you are interested in? Tin basher, Carpenter, Millwright ,Insulator Welder, Pipe fitter, Hvac tech, Machinist some other trade that you can get a ticket out of it.

I don't know if apprenticeship is something you would be interested in. After three of four years you have a ticket and if you decide it's not for you you can still go back to school. No one can take that ticket away from you, it will always come in handy. In the mean time you earn as you learn. $$

Want a house you can build it.
Got a bad pump rebuild it.
Need to build a trailer weld it. Or glue it like the janitor.
Have to have heat, plump your own gas line.
Oh well you get my drift I hope.

Ok this was kind of way to long and it was not meant to preach. You'll do fine, there are lots of options.

On to Mothers Day, I found out I have to work all weekend so wont be able to do anything on Sunday for the wife. BUMMER I'll have to do something on Saturday or Sunday night or next week. Seems to happen to often but try to make up for it by doing other things when it's not "A SPECIAL DAY". Oh well such is life.
