Nextel VS Sprint
Nextel VS Sprint
Well I just bought the new Nextel Blackberry and really like it but.....
Here's the problem the Nextel Blackberry doesn't get the sprint TV,music ect. We call sprint to find out what was up and they stated that Nextel can't support the "streaming" signal needed to run certain programs. I would like to be able to look at youtube (for example) and can't unless I am within a WiFi network which is only at work. I have had the phone a little over a week and have only used the 2way feature twice. Now that my wife has just a strait Sprint phone I call her (she is the one I used to talk to the most) and don't think I really need the 2way.
My question is how many people out there have gone away from the Nextel and went with Sprint. I just signed a new contract so I plan on staying with them and my theory is every cell co. has dead spots plus I haven't had a issue with the Sprint/Nextel billing to justify getting rid of them. I have 30 days to decide if I want to keep my phone but I am thinking if I get more "stuff" with the Sprint Blackberry I might as well just go with that one.
Sorry for such a long post and your opinions are much appreciated.

NEXTEL SUCKS. Do you have to wait for your text messages to download too?
Got a buddy who would have to press yes to download text, then sit there and wait for it. Also when I would call his phone, it would ring on my end for 20 seconds BEFORE his phone would ever ring. We tried an experiment at work once and determined it was Nextel.
I currently have Sprint and they too suck. I only remain a customer because I have an excellent plan that I got 10 years ago that nobody can beat. Even Sprint won't offer this plan anymore.

Ohhh, and watch your bill carefully. I assume that nextel and sprint are the same billing dept. I can't tell you how many times I've had to call Sprint to get a charge taken off. Ex: $5 fee for pictures when I have unlimited picture mail. Took 4 months o get that one fixed. Every month they would tell me it was fixed, then the next month it was back.
I've got Sprint, Nextel won't work out here at all. The phone and service are good and I've got a great plan with them. My only problem with them is I have no service at home, so if I have any problem with the phone I've got to borrow someone else's phone and drive to town to call and get it fixed. Kind of a pain in the neck.

Not to start a brand war but I have a work cell through Sprint and hate it. My personal is with Alltel and have never had any issues. Better coverage, never a dropped call and much better available plans.
This is just my 1/2 cent though

Sprint has always sucked. I left them years ago and never looked back. Nextel is NOT a cellular network but rather it's a land mobile radio network which supports telephone interconnect. It's a completely different infrastructure then a regular cellular network. Nextel was fine with its niche until Sprint ruined them.
If you want direct connect (trunked radio) then go with Nextel. If you want all the toys and features that come with newer phones these days then it's probably time to find another carrier.
