I think I would rather go with a .30-06 and shoot .224 sabot rounds in it.
http://www.eabco.com/reload02.html its easier and doesn't require a wildcat chambering

Even doctored up 25-06 burns through barrels pretty quick from what I understand. I can't imagine the velocity of a 22-06 not eating up the barrel? You'd have to use a good 223 over a standard 22 for the bullet to stay together wouldn't ya? A case on a 220 swift might be comparable, but with the difference in case angle, it probably wouldn't build as much pressure? Just thinking out loud.

There becomes a problem with volosity over weight. When your putting that much power over a light weight bullet it becomes hard to control. Sometimes keeping the bullet together becomes the biggest problem.. I have seen first hand the results of a overloaded 22-250 shooting around 4600 fps that could not be controlled from a ED Brown built riffle.

Nightshift checking in finally. Spent the last hour catching up and I don't think I'm any further ahead of the game.
Matt, Greatlakes, had been Tuscola & Saginaw Bay about 20 years. Before that the lower half was Ann Arbor RR, upper was a piece of the Grand Rapids & Indiana (Pennsy). Both lines ran Ferries across Lake Michigan for the ore trains, as well as Lime stone and sand, and originally lumber.
Ok, we were overdue for a train thread anyway, what's next... chainsaws?

Fronty, yeah ya get older and the allergies pop up. also bad virus going around that seems to like the sinus cavities (turbinates). I am with Matt, I do the chinese hot food or Franks' red hot sauce on a hard boiled egg. don't get the sinus stuff much, my husband is constant sinus headaches I think..
jbark and others who need it-
Labatt's Blue is ice cold and ready, chicken strips with buffalo wing sauce on them for a snack....
fought with turbo tax since the feds rejected the tax info, all settled and try again. not as busy as future millionaire CIN, heheh, but all medical productive today. got shots for stuff that wasn't even around when I was a kid. no sugar cube for polio either, so I guess that is cool.
one project done , on to hubby's harley plastic pieces for painting. fine weather here, just too much water in the woods for a little logging....
ok, hello out to all DTRs finest!
Heidi jammin on the guitar to blow off some stress....
