Just got word today about the latest scam going. A group has been going around targeting businesses, making fraudulent claims to be affiliated with tribal organizations. They request scrap and junk metal to be donated for funding juvenile projects and healthcare. Once in and gaining access to the premises, they have been helping themselves to "extras". They also use strong arm tactics if confronted, and have caused injury. They have made some high dollar collections. Pass this info along and you come into contact, advise your local police they are in the area. My understanding is they have hit the New England area hard so far.

 

How could we tell? That's just the way people act out here!

Last year, while at my Parents place some guys showed up and said they were doing a scrap metal drive for the high school and wanted to look around (there is some old equipment on the property). I asked for some id and a phone number and I would call them back. I also made sure they saw me writing their plate number down. Geee, both of them had forgotten their wallets and the number they gave was bogus. I gave their vehicle plate number to the police but never heard anything back.

 

They are probably part of 0bama's "cash for clunkers" team which is now renamed 0bama's "cash for junk" team, or what is left of the economy and REAL assets.
