New reg fees in Calif
Just got my new renewal for my 1995 Truck, due in October. $450.00, up about $200 over the previous year. Can you imagine what it would be for a new 2003?
Our soon to be ex-governor, Grayout Davis, decided to pay for his mistakes by whipping it on the motoring public. Under Davis and the democratic controlled legislature, gov't spending has increase 33% in two years.
I say send them all packing.

$175 a year here in Virginia for a 20,000 pound liscense. That's on top of over $900 a year in property taxes to the county AND the town, $10 a year for a town sticker, $15 a year for state inspection, somewhere around $700 for insurance, and probably a few others I can't remember right now. > >

Moose:
do you pay that $1k tax yearly for your 03?
just sent the check in to DMV in CA today for renewal of tags on my 86 F250, check was for $202.
a buddy of mine just bought a 2003 Chevy D-Max in Oregon and he paid his fees for the next three years, wrote them a check for $138.
something is definitely wrong, as the registration fee will triple next year and weight fees with go up 42%, ( my weight fee is currently $153) and is based on unladen weight of the truck.
at this rate, by this time next year, I will be posting about DMV rates on the MoPed I will be using on my 160 mile a day commute back and forth to work............

Gotta pay for that commuter lane you can't use. Maybe with those fees, they're trying to get everybody to drive ricers to cut down on traffic too.

Re:New reg fees in Calif
Just renewed my tags on my 01 for Washington State and it was 64.50 and is based on a under 10k truck. We use to get ripped off but a taxpayer's revolt scared them so much that they gave in on something and this was it. Now the stuff is starting to creep back in. Stuff like, now they want to do a surcharge on RV's to pay for all the state parks and campgrounds, even though we don't really use them. Out of staters flood the area and there are no spaces left. Sorry, I digress...

About $40 a year for state license plates.
$15 a year for State Safety Inspection.
$800+ a year for full coverage insurance.
$1200 a year for County Property Tax.
(70% rebate for all passenger vehicles under 7501lbs GVW)
Duallys don't qualify even if not used for business. >

No the 1K was a one time sales tax, tag renewal will be $90 or less from now on.
You could get an Indian tag & skip the 1K sales tax, but if you sell your truck the buyer has to pay it if they can't get an Indian tag.

NH:
No sales tax.
49.20 - State
70something town excise tax.
that's the one year renewal on my 98.5
If I get a new one, it'll be still no sales tax, 49.20 state (already paid) and probably $500 or so excise tax (credit for what's paid already)
