New KLR 650
Just got a new Kawasaki KLR 650 enduro.
Fun bike, lots of low end torque...like the Cummins...only a bit less
A good bike for beginners...if you are tall..or older farts like myself.
Not reallt fast eneogh to get yourself into trouble.
A little scary in traffic after not riding for 20 years.

Ive always wanted a KLR 650. My wife wont ride with me if I get one though. I have wanted one for abought as long as I can remember. Abought 5 years ago I ran into a guy that had road bars on his and a PILE of miles on it for only being a year old. He lives in Minnisota and the previouse year he and a few budies had rode to the Panama Cannal and back. Then this July when I was on an ATV trip in Colorado I ran across a guy from Illinois on one. He had a buncj of lugage straped to it and claimed he was on a road trip taking the scenic rout to Allaska and adventualy to the arctic circle then back to Illinios. Some day I will have one and aim it at Alaska myself. Enjoy it they area graet bikes.

I wanted a KLR a few years back, they are a great bike. but my legs were too short for it.(My legs barely reach the ground) Anyhoo bought a NX 650 honda dual sport, It's cool too, single cylinder, dual exhaust. Like those 4 stroke thumpers.

Congrats on the new bike. If you haven't ridden in a while, I would highly recommend taking the motorcycle safety foundation course thing.
I used to have a DR650, and now have a RoadKing. There's no question which one I'd take on a long road trip, but I miss being able to run logging roads and stuff...
Also, I've gotten into ATVing, and there are times where it would sure be nice to explore the off road vehicle trails on something that was street legal... plus a couple friends at work just got enduros (a XR650L, and a new DR650).
Anyhow, have fun, and be careful.

Thanx Lads!
I may indeed take a refresher coarse..even though I have had a bike licence for 35 years...heck..maybe THAT is the reason I should.
Things change and everything you learn that can help you survive is worth it.
It would probably be fun too.

Stock KLR about 5500 US.
If you are going to spend big bucks, the big V twin KTM 990 (950?) is the way to go...a marvelous machine! Big coin tho.
Maybe next year.
