Tear your ACL and have others drive you...hahaha.

Yea, softball practice sucked and now I'm paying for it. Torn ACL and sprained heel. No driving for a while (month or 2). Suck because my gauges and lift just came in and now I have to wait to install everything.

Well off to the MRI to see how bad of a tear it is.

Man I feel for you. I played sports all my life, baseball soft ball, football, swimming, weight lifting, hockey, tennis, and half a dozen others. I was training dogs for a long time and doing protection work. Would you believe I got my knee ripped up traning dogs?? Like clipping in football. Oh well I lasted untill age 50 with no major damage. I was on crutches for supposedly 3 weeks untill I fell down the stairs with them. I left them right up against the wall there no more crutches for me. I went to 5 different sports clinics. None recommended surgery as I was too old (and not worth the money haha) The last one showed me the x-rays and he asked me what I thought and I said well if it was my dog I have to put him to sleep. I'm totally worn out. My knees look like worn out tie rod ends. I can't imagin what the elbows look like.

Anyway I was out of all sports for about 6 years. I worked out, exercised, did all the sports medicine things. Still I have managed to injure the ..... knee 3 more times. It is so loose that I can feel them wobble around. Kinda like death wobble in our trucks.

All I can say is do all the exercise stuff carefully and really try not to reinjure it. Try not to favor the other leg as it will get tend to get much stronger and be more difficult to achive strength balance. Esentially you will have to build super muscles all around it to make up for the lack of support you have injured. I still managed to play baseball at 62 but I finally have to admit I'm retired.

Todays medicine is so much better so I really hope you can recover easier than I've been able to.

good luck.

Try some "Move Free" get it at sam's club for about $25.00 / bottle . It's glucosamine, condroitin and MSM. (Same as GNC's Tri-Flex @ $50.00/ bottle last time I checked) Take Double doses for the first week or two then cut back to a regular dose and keep at it. The stuff works pretty good for me ( Right shoulder overhaul 9/05 and left knee overhaul 6/06 for me). Still gotta lose this spare tire though

**updated**

Met with my surgeon this morning:

Good News:

I can drive again, crutches part time use, ACL not torn (sort of) and I can go on vacation. Now all my parts can get installed.

Bad News:

ACL is detached from bone, Bone and area cartilidge is bruised, will have to wait 2 months till bone and cartlidge heal to do surgery - reconstructive surgery. Very rare chance that the ACL will reattach itself to the bone. NO type of sports at all. Physical therapy twice a week for 4 weeks. Unknown down time after surgery.

Welcome to my world.

When I had my ACL done, I was down for 5 weeks on crutches and a knee immobilizer. But, I have also heard of others being released after 2 weeks!

It all depends on how yoiu heal and your surgeons techniques.

I tore both ACL in one play during high school football. It ended my all state career... I was in a wheel chair for almost 2 months and didn't get off crutches for about 5 months after the accident... Coach kept yelling at me to get my a#$ off the feild, but when the trainer checked me out he told him to shutup and get the ambulance on the feild...that was the night from hades, but morphine is a godsend...
