So? The 03 Cobra is only a 281 and the fastest one in the world right now is running high 9's on the stock engine with stock heads and cams. It does have an auto with a solid axle. But the next closest one has the 6 speed with the IRS and is running 10.0's. With nothing more than a new blower unit, a 50 shot of nitrous, cold air intake, and long tube headers with full 3" exhaust. Stock heads and cams and intake manifold.
Imagine if they built a 426 Hemi w/ todays technology...bye bye mustang, camaro...etc..

Very true. I wish they would build something like that. That would be SAWEET!!!

If they built a new edition of the 426 Hemi Cuda, it would be "Bye-bye Retirement Fund".......

They would turn it in to plastic junk just like ford and chevy did with the camaro and mustang.

I'm still getting over the Super Crew commercial where the firefighters pull up in front of the burning house and jump out. With no water, hose, ladders, breathing apparatus, or anything else one would typically need to put out a fire......

Our Ford Super Crew got us here fast! Now what do we do?

Well being the Mopar man that I am, here some INFO, the car on the trailer of the 03 HEMI is a 70 HEMI CHARGER R/T and late 60`s early 70`s B-body`s are no lite weights 3500+lbs. Someone asked if Chrysler made a modern 426 Hemi yes in 3 flavors, the small 426 is rated at 465hp this is with a pump gas 9:1 so you can guess what the real 10:25 of the 60/70s made in stock form in the OCT/03 Mopar Muscle this 9:1 motor made a real life 494hp so there still underated form the factory #2 is a 472 ci HEMI rated at 525 hp do you think its underated too? I do and last but not least #3 528 ci HEMI rated at 610hp aluminum-headed monster. I`ve seen a dyno sheet from a 528 motor and it pulled over 650hp and 600ftlbs of torque out of the box these are factory crate motors(Ray Barton the 'HEMI GOD' builds 500ci/900+hp Super Stock motors) No fords BOSS 429 is not a true HEMI it has a cresent shaped combustion chamber IN/EX are offset like a slanted figure 8. MORAR`s valve train is inline a true HEMISPHERICAL DOME intake valve is above of the exh valve

You know, I remember years ago that the "purists" only considered the 392 Hemi to be a "true" hemi - not that upstart 426. I have fond memories of my next door neighbors brand new '68 Hemi Roadrunner. Especially when when he ran uncorked long tubes on the weekends. His dad was a VP at Chrysler, we used to call him Mr. MOPAR.

Some day my 69 road runner will have a HEMI of its own, I will have to make due with the 440 and the 4spd.

If I remember right, your 440 will take a stock 426 hemi off the line, but the hemi will take it by a car length at the quarter. It was originally intended for circle jerks, but Don Prudome (sp ?) was the first to experiment with a hemi in a drag race, after blowing a motor in the pits.
