Need Help Buying New Truck

I am selling my 2004.5 because of financial reasons.

I want to buy an older dodge, probably a 2wd dually.

I have looked all over for something that can guide me on buying another truck. I was hoping that I could find something that listed the Pros and Cons of the different engines, model years, etc...

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If anyone has an opinion on the best older truck to buy I would appreciate that also.

Thanks
Jeremy

There are pro's and con's to all generations of trucks. If I were you, I would decide which I liked best, as far as looks and comfort and need, and go from there. When you find what you like, do reasearch on the site here and eleminate the know problems with the truck your looking at.

Thank you for all of your help.

Where is the best place to look for good condition older CTD's? I live in Kansas City, and there aren't many around here.

Are there any certain years to absolutely stay away from? A certain year that has a bunch of known problems?

Again, I thank you guys a lot.

Jeremy

I had good luck with eBay, you often have to drive a decent distance to pick something up but you can get some great deals. Buyer beware though. For me I didn't have much other option, around here if someone has a Cummins it isn't for sale.

Hi Jeremy... theres alot of older CTDs aropund here, unfortunatly(sp?) most of them havent been taken care of. The majority I looked at locally here in NE KS, had been farm trucks and looked it. Lot'a rust and dings...
I wound up searching here on-line and found a 1st Gen in good condition in TX, I had a buddy road trip down with me to look at it, and drove it home.

Took me about 3 months searching to find one I liked, but it was worth it.

Yeah, these trucks seem to be pretty hard to find, at least in semi-nice or better condition. I looked for a while before I got mine.

If I had been set on a club or quad cab, and 4x4, I'd still be looking. They're snatched up real quick. I settled on a 4x2 std cab. The 4x2 I really dont mind, but I would have preferred a bigger cab for sure.

Now, theres a lot more to be found if you want to spend >20,000 dollars.
