Need help with 2001 honda civic
To start i have a 2001 honda civic dx with 144xxx miles. It is an auto with 1.7 non-vtec motor. The other day after cruising at 65 for 35 miles the CEL came on and engine went into limp mode. I pulled over within 1 mile at a gas station. The exhaust manifold was glowing red. (it was just replaced with a genuine honda manifold/converter within the last 2000 miles.) The engine codes are p1361 and 1362 which i believe are intermitent tdc signal and no tdc signal. The other sites I have visited have not been helpful and basically suggest throwing all kinds of parts at it. From a new TDC sensor, new cylinder head and a new ECU. I was hoping someone on this site may have some real advice that could be useful. Thanks in advance and i hope i have posted this in the correct place.

Sorry been working a lot lately and havent had a chance to check anything yet. I will check some of those sites you suggested irocpractice. The timing belt was changed just after 100k and I need to do some investigating to see if anything is clogged to cause excessive heat and back pressure

Do you park the car where there are mice? I've seen the little cheese thieves build nests in tail pipes and plug things up. I also worked on a car once that the owners son had backed into a parking space and ran into an earthen berm. The tail pipe on that one was plugged with dirt. They were quite happy when I fixed it in 5 minutes with a straightened coat hanger.
I think im going to replace that this weekend. The cat should be good as it has been replaced in the last 2000 miles. I dont think anything is plugged on the exhaust because i had been driving at 65-75 mph for over 30 minutes without any issues.
