My Iron Butt Ride

I'm pretty new to this forum, so I thought I'd post this link to a motorcycle ride I did last year My iron butt ride . It was an accomplishment I'll always be proud of, particularly for doing it on a CBR929RR.

My hat's off to you.
My personal best was a 700 mile day with Wifey on the back of my '98 Ultra Classic.

Always wanted to go for the I.B. ride.

Congrats.

Not bad! Especially on that bike.

My best one day was 600+ miles in one day on a FXDL.

Pretty sore on that bike but it was great! My adrenaline was pumping for a few days after that one.

I'd do an Iron Butt or a Butt Burner maybe on a Electra Glide or a Gold Wing but not on the bike I have now. It would cripple me.

Check out some of these routes (I found this site one day):

http://www.pashnit.com

Someday I'll do the west coast tour.

Beautiful scenery.

Happy trails!

DT.

My best was 725 miles in one day. And that was on a FXDX.........No way I'd even think about the IB on my (sold) bike, much less that one of yours......... Good job.

Dieselnewbie, I'm familiar with pashnit's site. In fact, I live in some of his very favorite country.

I don't know if I'll get a long ride in this year or not. We're thinking of a long-ish family trip with the travel trailer once I get my new truck, which will eat up a bunch if not all my vacation time.

One other thing I'd like to do with my bike is take it out to a race track.

BTW, I just turned over 48,000 miles on the motorcycle the other day!

I used to ride with people who had more free time and money than I did. One freind did the three flags ( Mexico/USA/Canada) Four corners a complete trip around the United States That would make that Iron Butt like a Sunday ride. Anyway congrats especially on that bike my legs and shoulders hurt just thinking about riding a bike like that far.

Nice ride - don't think I could have done it on your bike though.. I did the iron butt thing when I went from St Louis to St Petersburg FL on a Sunday and then from Orlando back to ST Louis the next weekend. Over 1000 each way. I wasn't that sore and did the ride solo. Two weeks before this trip, the wife and I were returning from Boston MA on the Harley. Our last leg was 740 miles (stopping only for gas and food) from Jonstown PA to St Louis. Actually thought about going for the iron butt thing then but the wife said we were home and enough was enough.
