so i'm chaning my oil the other day and my grandpop walks up and ask what im gonna do wiht my old oil. i told him i was gonna put it in a 5 gallon bucket and dispose of it properly, then he ask if he can have it. i said "sure" and asked what he was gonna do with it. he said "put it in my diesel" i thouht he was crazy for a second then realized it prolly wont hurt it to put a little oil in there ( he does drive a 12valve)

so later that evening i tell my dad what grandpop did and my father proceeds to tell me that the oil i just gave him is nothin compared to what he has seen him pour in his tank. he said he has seen him pour in ronsonol lighter fluid, 2 cycle mix gas, kerosene and last but not least VARSOL!(sp?) you know the parts cleaner stuff you see at mechanic shops!!!!

i gotta say the 12 vavle is a beast to be able to hold up to that kind of stuff, i drove it the other day and it runs fine.




oh yea when he thinks its gonna rain he runs outside and rubs soap on the truck so the rainwater will wash it off!!!!

 

you have to honor him, and take the slight craziness with humor. he is a member of the 'greatest generation' and i lost mine 2 years ago. he did stuff like that, and at the time, i thought he too was nuts, but it comes with the growing up making due.
but it is darned funny.

 

oh i know he isnt actually crazy...but i know what you mean, it does make me laugh....more so that the truck still runs...i asked him when he was gonna let me turn it up, and he said he didnt want me to break his truck...yet he pours all that crap in it! lol

I had a guy next to me with a 05 the other day at the pumps, he about fainted when he saw me pouring my used Rotella in before filling it up. Nice guy, I told him there is no way I would even consider doing it to anything newer than a 12 valve truck......

Ronsonol and varsol are mostly naphtha.

2 stroke oil/gas mix might be pushing it. depends on how much diesel is in the tank.

Nothing wrong with running waste engine oil, I have been doing it for about a year now in my 98 24 valve.
