My dog dropped dead tonight
My thoughts are with you. We just got a black lab puppy about 3 months ago and already I couldn't imagine her not being around. She is so affectionate and attached to us. She suffers from severe seperation anxiety.
I lost my Shar-Pei a few years ago to Amilidosis (sp?) and that was very hard. Sorry for your loss.

Our pets become such a total part of our lives that when they pass on it is a loss of a tried and true family member. Nothing will stop the heartache right now, but you should find solace in the fact that it was in your arms that he passed, and for him I'm sure that was comforting..
My condolences to you and your family.

Truly very sorry...
Let any of us know what we can do to help. You know Shadow will never really leave your side. He'll always be there, watching as you put each new mod on the truck, watching over the truck when you park her and leave. Shadow will always be there for you, that's why they are man's best friend!
Terribly sorry for your loss.

Sorry to hear about your dog, I had to make a tuff decision and Tues the 30th, next week I have the vet comming to put my 15 year old black lab down. I feel bad for you and this post has made me realize I had a good 15 years with her so Im pretty lucky. But calling the vet and saying its time to put her down is the hardest decision I have had to make. Needless to say she gets steak, ice cream and what ever else she wants untill tuesday. I think the best cure will be a new puppy!
Wow that really sucks.......but the way to look at it is he died very quickly and didn't suffer. I'd much rather have it that way then to have a dog constantly in pain and suffer.......that just breaks my heart!
One thing that helped me when I had to put my Dobi down was I kept a picture of him on the night stand beside my bed......granted looking at it made me miss him but just being able to see him everyday always put a smile on my face!
Sorry for you loss...things will get better

sorry to hear of that and hope you are feeling better today. i think what really sucks is that there isn't enough good owners out there who have bought these animals as a status symbol, or on impulse and then don't do anything with them other than buy them food and open the door so they don't have a dump on the floor!!and they live forever in a completely unsatisfied way, and yet a good owner like you who cherishes his buddy, runs him, plays with him, just keeps him healthy and stimulated isn't allotted much time with him.sometime life doesn;t seem that fair, but on the good side of it, now at least a good owner like you, will be able to go find a new pup and keep from getting into the hands of some yuppie couple who are ga-ga over this cute little puppy, that grows up and then is treated poorly or forgotton all together.

Along with the others, I extend my deepest sympathy for your loss. It was only last February 28th that we had to put down Bandit, our male tri-color Sheltie, at the age of 6-1/2 years due to kidney failure. We spent many thousands of dollars trying to save him, including a trip to Texas A&M's veterinary facilities, but it wasn't to be.
We have a 2 year old female sable and white Sheltie now in whom the vet has discovered a heart murmur. She's had ultrasound diagnostic tests, and Texas A&M is saying that it's a lazy heart valve that isn't critical at this time, but they recommended annual follow-up ultrasounds, which we have done. She isn't outwardly affected by this problem, but every time she and Coby (our new tri-color Sheltie male) are running and chasing each other in the back yard, in the back of my mind is that I could easily look out there and be facing a situation just like yours.
The problem with pets is that we live too long.

I'm a stone cold bad Edit for 50 years, but when my 13 yr old Golden had a stroke last year and I had to put him down, I cried like a little Edit. The bond between man and dog is like nothing else. I weep inside for you broah...
Sorry for your loss. My Doberman lived to be 19 (that's right - 19...), but long or short, it is the quality, not the quantity. I have three dogs now, one of whom I brought home as a foster after doing 10 days of animal rescue on-the-ground after Katrina in a staging area in Mississippi, daily rescues coming in from NOLA.
I adopted him, and he, and the other two, are sound asleep as I write this post.
Dogs give so much and ask so little - I feel for ya......

I know the feeling. I had a Yellow Lab his name was Buddy,he was 13 yrs old when I had him put down he had arthritcs real bad and could barely walk. This dog could fetch the remote, my boots and the newspaper. He was awesome. It took me about 3yrs to get another Lab this one is Black and his name is Toby and still in training. My heart goes out to you.
