More Fail
Well, let me revisit this... I'm posting thinking about my old trailer... it was long enough to get the heavy counter balance over the axles. If the trailer is not long enough, then you are correct, Scotty.
Every skid steer I've seen/rented has been backed on. Along with usually a chain on each corner. Maybe its the angle of the picture, but it looks like its pulled up there pretty far, although the truck ain't saggin too bad, so maybe theres not as much tongue weight as it appears.
Why didn't you call the local HP, and help make the road a little safer?
So I'm putting along the city 60mph posted speed limit, look in my rearview mirror, see this jacked up Ford blowing tons of black smoke up this hill, I'm like whats up with that dude, it was constant nonstop, the cars behind him disappeared.
Boy, now hes coming up fast, I mean hes rolln the coal, wow, and trailer in tow I see. Can hear that Straight pipe, sounds like WOT next to my window up. We get to a level spot, I can barely get my smartphone going to capture the moment.
Excessive speed, at least 73-75 (in city limits mind you), ZERO chains, straps. I'm like whoa!!! Guys gonna kill someone!
WTH, that thing weighs atleast 8000lbs, trailer 2500lbs????? Sure makes the rest of us look bad, blown' smoke, wreckless. If that thing flew off there, it would kill someone instantly. I just don't get some people!!!
Here I am overkill when I tow, 4 chains, and 1 chain over bucket, go slow, stay in right lane. Man thats frustrating to watch people like this!!!
FORD FAIL - Should be ticketed none the less to!!

I am betting safety regs are different in different areas. There are a couple of safety reasons for the unit to be backed onto the trailer. Visual contact with objects and/or people when loading/unloading. Distribution of weight.
Its law up here on the roads and its the rule in the course I took in December.
Mark, I did read you later post. I wanted to explain my original one a bit more.
Now I see that most bobcats are loaded incorrectly.
Learn something all the time. Thats a good thing.

It really doesn't matter which way you load as long as you balance the weight on the trailer. With that said, the best reason to load a Bobcat back end first is because they tend to be light on the front and want to stand on their rear. Backing on and driving off is the safer thing to do with them.
