An amazing performance. For those of you not in radio controlled aircraft, this is electric powered. Incredible concentration to fly in the 3d envelope of a gym. Right at the end he demoed tha very latest 4d flying as it is being called. In this case he reverses the motor and causes the plane to fly backwards. In the gas powered r/c planes the in-flight adjustable pitch prop is just now becoming a reality. It's not cheap and it takes skill to fly and a good plane /engine combination.

And if you think these are just "toys", got news for you, they can have more $$$$$ in some of these planes than you might have in your smelly old diesel truck. Funny thing is they probably have a nice diesel truck and 40 foot trailer too. haha

Even some of the full sized aerobatic guys are experimenting with the reverse pitch prop now.

I used to do the nitro plane thing when I was younger... lots of $$ involved.. My radio alone was 5 or 6hundred and that was a mid ranged unit.. I'm kinda into nitro 4x4s now... Have a HPI Savage with a 2.8cubic inch "Big Block" nitro full 4x4, limited slip rear open front diffs, 3 speed tran, reverse the works... Does about 50mph, lots of fun!

I wanted to get into electric 3d planes, but paramedics don't make the kinda money required for that stuff. I am into the electric stadium trucks though. Brushless motors and lipo batteries have completely changed the electric scene. Speeds and run times that were unthinkable even a few years ago are the reality now. My buddy has a Traxxas rustler with Mamba brushless that'll run 45+ on 6 cell Ni-Mh. Fun stuff, needs to get some 11.1 lipos and break 70 with it now.

Very good clip. I have been planning on getting one of the lower cost beginners (been a long time for me) electric airplanes. Any suggestions? It would be flown outside in mild winds. Just want to be able to pull it out of the trailer and goof around while camping.

I'd like to get into RC helicopters and video but I don't know anyone that cold teach me to fly the things. And I'm not really into the idea of wrecking them in the name of learning.

If you want to get into choppers visit a local flying club. there is usually a sub group of outlaws that fly choppers. A select group of crazies. haha

Otherwise there are at least 3 very good flight sims that you definitely need to learn to fly on. Any one of them will save you at least the first 1/2 dozen crashes at $300-500 each for the medium size helis.

We have the Great Planes one that we use for our warbirds that is pretty good. It is fully adjustable so you can fine tune the program to suit the model.

Be prepared to spend a grand or so to get started and another on repairs. These are not toys that you can just toss in the closet for a while and bring them out when it suits you. Use it or lose it as they say.

Helis are a whole other ball game. I have been flying them for about 3 years now and I am very much a beginner. I have Reflex XTR and many agree it is the closest thing to flying the real thing. http://www.reflex-sim.de/reflex-sim/shop/catalog/

If you want to tinker around in your house a Blade CX2 is a extremely stable little heli that is nice to chase the cat around with.

If you plan on staying electric the Trex series are great and easily upgradeable when you find it necessary for more of a challenge.

I have a Hirobo Shuttle for my nitro chopper and I like it a lot. It is far from being cheap and its only a 30 size.... I know I have 1300+ just in the heli without the radio. It is a blast though and everyone comes around very quick when you start flying a nitro chopper. I am just now getting to where I can carry on a conversation while hovering, I would never try that with technical forward flight.

The best advice I could give is to join RunRyder and find someone local to help you set the thing up. It is near impossible to learn how to fly and set the gyro, pitch/throttle curves, trim it out etc. etc.

Check out this guy Alan Szabo Jr. or Curtis Youngblood http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nSsl4GOFAp4
Absolutely amazing.

We haven't embraced the electric yet. We use lots of high power batteries to drive all the servos however especially the B-25 18 servos and 2 receivers.

We burn gass and lots of it. haha 4.5 oz/min with the P-51 and about just a little less with the bomber with 2 smaller motors. We are even looking at real functional drop tanks. Quite complicated as the last thing you need is a dead stick with a big warbird.
