I'm almost done with the housing:

I still need to get everything to line up a little better for the assembly, and take a few measurements; the housing doesn't look right to me. As of right now my map width enhancement slot does nothing

Dang I miss working with 3D in autocad. Haven't done that since highschool and back then I did a LSD out of a ranger. That was a blast. My CAD class I just got done taking at SHSU was a joke. All we did was array circles with some boxes thrown in for fun. All in 2d. He wouldn't even let me play with the 3D stuff. Oh well. Maybe next semester...

Blue, That's too bad. 3d Cad is all important in today's engineering world. Every employment add you see notes what cad systems you can handle. The more the better.

I fortunately recognized this back in the very early 80's and went out of my way to learn at least a half a dozen 3d systems over the years including FEA and fluid dynamics software. To date in 22 years I have never had a drawing board. Everything I've done has been 3d stuff. Today we are even drifting away from outputting paper drawing copies. The cad information and geometry is transmitted directly to the CNC departments and converted to CNC programs.

I've done many design reviews paperless. Just video conferencing or a projector and use the cad geometry. You can do photo rendering for presentations, animations, sections, you name it. Even do real time changes and a lot more.

I've been drawing an engine in Inventor, based off of a Cummins ISB. I'll post some pics on here when I can get them.

I tried once drawing a turbo compressor housing, that was a few years ago and it was in AutoCAD...and I couldn't get it to look right. I'll try in Inventor, I'm sure I wont have a problem doing it....but we'll see!
I can now read your Inventor iam files as well as the the components. If you want, zip up the whole engine a send it to me (mhuppertz@ventanas.com) and I will start doing some hi-res, ray trace renders for you.
Thanks!

Bringing this one back from the dead. Is there anyway to get a copy of the full engine model if you're will to share?

Thanks!

That's what I was going to say.

I'm a pro/E novice, but I use it at work. Pro/E has a couple options for this, depending on whether you are maintaining a constant blade profile or not. Blended Sweep would work for a variable profile.

I'm not sure how one would get the profile to rotate as it swept along the path.
