Mensa delema

I woke up in the middle of the night last night with this burning question.

If you are a Mensa member (very intelligent people club) and you have a competition event, how do you warm up for it??

Basball we throw a few *****, take a few turns in the bat cage, do a few stretch exercises.

Football we do exercises, hit the blocking sled, throw a few *****, hit shoulder pads.

Hockey we skate around, make a few shots on goal.

But how do you warm up for an intelligence competition???? ?

It depends what its for. If its knowldge base you study.. obviously. If its your every day intellgence type crap you just prepair your mind for that type of testing. Logic, spatial relations, patterns and sequences. Thats what any "intellegence" test boils down to. When mensa begged me to join I told them no. I'd do the same if I were you, but thats just me.

I am a member of the International High IQ Society. I have been on the rolls for 5 years now. I tried for 10 years before gaining a single point to make it!!!!! We require an IQ of 126 and I had been a 125 for years.

If you rank the societies from average high intelligence to genius I am in the entry level at 126. Mensa is next in line requiring 132. Prometheus is 175 and Giga is 190 minimum. So I am but a pea brained fledgling.

To answer your question, I read. I read a lot. I test a lot. There is no warm-up, you sleep, you relax and think. The day before is too late to study for a urinalysis and it's also too late to study for a competition. I still do because I'm hanging on by a thread.

I have access to websites for research and pre-testing.

Because I am right on the edge I have to re-test every year. If I could simply gain 1 point to a 127 then I wouldn't have to retest to remain active in this society. Should I try to go to Mensa I need an 8 point gain, I won't live that long.

If you woke up in the night thinking! You should test yourself.
People tease me because I tell them I dreamt about the issue and found the resolution. So I don't often tell people that part of the resolution.

I agree Cap. It seems to me they are more into learning than into being full of themselves.

I believe that I was just blessed with smart parents who tore my tail up if I didn't study and want to study.
I have 3 uncles that are/were tenured professors (until retirement or death).
A 4th uncle recently retired Supt. of Secondary Education Houston ISD.
My mother has been an elementary school principal for 16 years, 28 years in the district, her mother and English teacher for 42 years.
My father was an engineer working on the Corvette project in the 60's (burglar came in and killed him when I was a youngster).
Then I feel I have had an illustrious career myself, Navy, DOJ, Microsoft.

edit:
I'm one of the only people in the family that didn't go into education. I'm coming to love teaching now however.

I never made Mensa, but my darling daughter did. She works hard mind quzzles. As a youngster she went thru the "creative growth games" books I got her. Those books are still on her book shelf.
She turned down the Coast Guard Acadamy, all she had to do was sign on the dotted line and she was in.
Worked and paid her own way thru community college, college, grad school and she is now a director of one of the Fortuine top 50 companies.
She done good. All my childeren done good. They worked hard, and studied hard. All 4 of them paid their own way after high school.

Good luck in the compatition.

Not only dilemma check out (basball)
I have a cousin with a 165 IQ I love him dearly, but he is a total misfit in the real world ( as most intellectuals are). I would say get drunk and really see what you are worth the next day. .

So much for my superiority complex
