MB Super Diesel
I wonder what kind of mileage that would get , would make a great commuter car especially now I'm driving an extra 70 miles a day since the rains washed out all roads south best estimate is the 20th of this month for one to open. Arhnold get shrub in a headlock and make him give us some of our tax money back!

I never asked how high the labor rate is at the dealership I stop by, I just smile as I go through the glass doors and pass by the 3 service managers sitting there at their executive desks with flat screens waiting for any customers as I walk over to parts. I'm sure they treat people great there (big screen with cable in waiting room, expresso machine, free car wash for everyone, ...) but unless my MB is getting towed in to warm up (free roadside assistance FOREVER, includes free towing to closest MB dealer) I doubt it'll ever be inside those doors to help pay for all of that fancy stuff.
I had a Mecedes engine in a boat once. This engine was massive, big enough to have it's own engine room! The heads on it were a foot across. When I found out the oil change was gonna cost $300+ parts, I quickly started looking for a replacement engine. I sold it for $18,500 to a guy in San Francisco who wanted another one to match one he already had for a towboat he was building.
Reading that I think two things, if it is a boat big enough to need that large of a motor then another $300 every now and then won't hurt things that much, and what parts do you need to change oil?
On the big MB boat or genset engines over here the oil change is really easy- stop engine- put used oil drum to the tap- open tap- switch on pump and wait till the flow stops. - change filters.
Cart old oil away, put drum with fresh oil to the ap and slip on suction line, press the "fill" button wait till pump stops, close tap and start engine.
Labor charge ??? - less than 20 minutes including handling oil drums.
Oil $$$- 50+ gallons ain't cheap

Alpine RAM is right. It has two oil filters and two fuel seps + 55gal of lube oil. A Racor fuel sep was put on each of three fuel tanks (6000 gals). Bouncing the barrel down the steps wasn't a good idea. So they hooked up an extra long syphon line from the deck. The $300 was for the mechanic to show up and do the work. Parts were about $200. 55gal oil = $??? Had to change the oil every 250 hrs. Since it was a commercial boat, that's twice a month! It runs more efficiently and quieter now with a marinized N14 engine in it's place. That one has the centinal system, so we just change filters.
