Man! I love E-Bay and Craigs List!!

I just happened to be browsing CraigsList this morning when I came across an ad for a new Lite Rider Tonneau for a SB full size Ram. The guy was only 55 miles away so I took a drive. Well, the cover was still in the box and unopened. He was only asking for half of the price from GenosGarage which is where I was contemplating buying one. I had one on my last two longbeds and if I could have made it work on this truck I would have kept it. Anyways, it pays to be patient and wait for the right deal to come along. Heck, I just got a great deal on my polished alloy rims mostly because the seller advertised them as chrome and I'm sure lots of guys passed right over the ad because of that. Luckily I looked really closely at the pictures and saw that they were indeed polished alloys. I got those right here in the DTR classifieds....
Why does all this really matter? Those of you who follow any of my posts know that I may get rid of my current ride any minute but usually I pull all the mods off first. I usually end up making money on my mods because I buy smart.... I have no intentions of letting this truck go anytime soon though...

Good find!!

I have had pretty good luck on ebay.. craigs list though.... :-/ Never completely sold something because I had about 2 days straight of people asking questiosn with no intentions to buy. Bought a car off craigslist and a pool table, both parties completely lied about the items and I couldnt discover the flaws until using them. Gr. A sock wrapped around a brake line in the back so you dont see the leak... that was just ridiculous. I didnt see it though, would have had to take the tire off to see it.

Have had pretty good luck on ebay though, out of 6 years of buying and selling ive only had a couple complain about the product and were fairly easy to resolve. Only bought something that didnt turn out as described maybe twice, and one happily fixed it, the other was from Hong Kong so i told him i aint mailing it back ill just repurchase it from a US seller. My bad.

Yeah, I have definitely learned a couple things with dealing on e-bay. First, if there is not an actual picture of the article but instead a file photo copied from a mfr's website do not buy it. Second is that if the seller is selling something super cheap then it is probably a piece of junk! I bought a drill that looked like a Makita in the fuzzy picture. It cost me $12 shipped from california and when it got here it was brand new but it was a total piece of crap from China and the chuck wobbled when it spun. No way that thing was ever gonna work. I just laughed and threw it in the trash.

which is better:
greed or SPEED?

i sell harley parts more than dodge stuff.

harley parts will do ~50% of MSRP on a forum (educated shoppers like us)
HD parts will do ~75% on ebay.

but you can usually move them in a day or so
ebay takes 7 days or so.

but you pay listing fees, final fees on ebay

just pay shipping on forums

do you go for the quick sale, or try to get enough price on ebay to cover the fees?

FWIW: I got my hard tonneau for $200 off craigslist, WOO hoOOO!!

i used to watch craigslist like TV.

Well, it depends on if I am actively searching for a particular item or not. If I am then I get obsessed with finding it. I'm on E-Bay, CraigsList, and the classifieds in all the forums I visit, constantly. My wife laughs at me but I don't care. When I get a great deal she's proud of me.....

I don't like Craigslist. It's too frustrating. Like a couple of weeks ago I was looking at trucks. So I typed in "diesel". I was searching "Lawrence, Ks." Guy had a '95 (I think it was) Dodge Ram. Needs work, needs to be moved soon.

No phone numbers offered, only email and hope they read it some time this year!

When I finally got ahold of him he said engine ran fine, front end needed work. He quit his roofing business and didn't need it any more. Just wanted it gone. He had sold it for $800.

He did say he realized it was worth more after the number of emails/calls he received.

I like Craig,s List but I absolutely Loath Ebay!
It's like going to a week long garage sale and having to out bid someone who's bid you don't know until you place your bid.
Just tell me what you want for it and I'll either make a counter offer or walk away.

Take a look at the Best of Craigslist. There's some funny (and some obsene) stuff on there. It's on the Craigslist page, over on the left side.
