Same here. Only got up to 48 here today and drizzled all day. Showers tomorrow but in the 60's, so I guess that's better. I have to go to the city to weld tomorrow.

Guess you are 2 hrs away, for some reason I thought Kalamazoo was closer to 3 hrs from here. If you were home you could make here in time for ribs.

Was suppose to be 65 today and cloudy, I think it was 55 and cloudy instead with a breeze off the big lake. Suppose to be 75 tomorrow and some sun if the weatherman is right. Did some Aluminium welding the other day, something I rarely get to do, I think the last time it welded aluminium was 2 yrs ago. I've always had a hard time doing it too

Aluminum can be tricky. Just about the time I get decent at it, I don't have any more to do! Aluminum tig eludes me altogether.

It is tricky to me. Seems like I do alot of trial and error when doing aluminium. Never done tig, seen it done before but never had the chance to try it. Most of my welding is MIG or Stick.

It's hard to maintain a consistent temperature while welding aluminum, and that's one of the reasons it gets tricky. You think it's at just the right temp and all of a sudden it seems to absorb more heat and then you blow thru it. Mig is the easiest way to weld it but tig is cleaner and stronger if done right.

I have that problem with Aluminium, seems like its going ok then i start blowing holes throguh the metal. The welder I was using is one of those that is suppose to "know" what setting to run, how hot to be and how much wire to feed. Can hardly even adjust it manually, not much of a fan of it. I'd rather stay with a machine that i can tune myself vs a computer doing it for me. The machine I was using is Lincoln. Not be prejudice againt welders but I like the Millers i've used before more than this lincoln. The only Lincoln I've used too. My personal stick welder i have at dads is an old Miller thunderbolt and all the others I've used at different jobs have been millers too.

I use Millers too. The others are probably just as good, but I was brought up on Millers and I've just stuck with them.

Matt, here's something I think you'll enjoy; http://www.snotr.com/video/2642
Give it time to load, it's worth it. Nothing dirty, (as the web address seems to imply), and I didn't see anything offensive in the comments.

thats the same way with me, learned on millers, used millers at work and thats all I normally use. Then they go ahead and buy and lincoln and throw me off.

Just got done eating the ribs, came out very good. Meat was very tender and had a good smokey flavor.

thats a very cool layout, I think I;ve seen a video on it before post on one of the model railroad sites I frequent. Definately alot bigger than the one I am planning to build in the future.

That German stuff has some real nice detail. Never heard if they were compatiple to ours electrically. Use to get into a hobby shop in Schweinfurt and check the stuff out. Something to do til the bars got busy....

Iker, you done yet?

Evenng Red, the detail in the german layout is very good. From the video its some of the best I've seen especailly with the remote and computer contolled boats, trucks, auto, and such. Even having the real water is keeps it up there on the realistic factor.

Day shift turning in for the night, midnighters your beverages are ready!

G'night DTR.

It is nice, but I meant the individual detail. You should see the stuff up close. Of course, back then there was no Proto-2000.

Not sure where that came from, but... come on! I'll always take volunteers.
